Let's get a clear definition of the Bible Armageddon; it is God's day of war to end all wars.(Revelation 16:14, 16). It will be justified and selective. Revelation 11:18 says that he will ..."bring to ruin those ruining the earth." There's no basis for believing it will be a (manmade) nuclear holocaust Hollywood style. REMEMBER: The divinely inspired words of Isaiah that God did not create the earth for nothing, but to be inhabited - Chapter 11 verse 18. and the reminder in Psalm 96:10 that the earth is firmly established and cannot be made to totter.

The near future global action against God's true worshipers will trigger (the Bible's) Armageddon because the scripture reminds us that it will be like touching His (God's) eyeball - Zechariah 2:8

The pressing question of when Armageddon will come has generated endless speculation. Examinging the book of Revelation in the light of other parts of the Bible can help us determine the timing of this crucial battle. Revelation 16:15 links Armageddon with Jesus' coming as a thief. That word picture is also used by Jesus in describing his coming to execute judgment on this system of things. Matthew 24:43, 44 and 1 Thessalonians 5:2.

As shown by the fulfillment of Bible prophecies, since 1914 we have been living in the last days of this system of things. Marking the final part of the last days will be the period that Jesus called the "great tribulation." The Bible does not say how long that period will be, but the calamities associated with it will be worse than anything the world has ever seen. That great tribulation will culminate at Armageddon - Matthew 24:21,27.

Since Armageddon is the "the war of the great day of God the Almighty," there is nothing that humans can do to postpose it. Jehovah thas set an "appointed time" for that war to start. "It will not be late." Habakkuk chapter 2 verse 3.

The war of Armageddon will cleanse the earth of all corruption and wickedness and open the way for a righteous new system of things under the rule of God's Messianic Kingdom (government).

The neat thing about Armageddon is that it seems to be a perennial fear. Since the very beginning Armageddon was expected or even believed to be happening at the time. Nero is one of the first to be labelled antichrist. Every turn of a century or millennium is a doomsday. Even popes have been considered the antichrist and the beginning of the end. The story continuous today unabated. Every single prediction of a date so far has failed. There are those sly ones that claim that we are actually in Armageddon and waiting for its conclusion sometime in the future. Most people including I will hazard the guess most Christians are not really familiar with the circumstances of the writing of the apocalypse. A visit to the island of Patmos where he had the revelation is a foreboding place even today. He was exiled there. He was in his 90s and lived in a dark damp cave. He was without food and water for a week before he had the revelation. If you stick me in a cave without food or water I would have revelations too lots of them and probably ugly all of them. I would not dare to claim that under those conditions I would have a lucid mind. I would have nightmares. Basically what I'm saying is that you can have Armageddon in your dreams. If we are hit by an asteroid or suffer the results of other geological catastrophes. It is not an act of god but of statistical chance. Unlike Armageddon science can actually make reasonable predictions even about extinction level events.

The Bible mentions that some end-times events will occur in a temple in Jerusalem (Daniel 9:27; Matthew 24:15). 2 Thessalonians 2:4, speaking of the antichrist, tells us, "He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God's temple, proclaiming himself to be God." The Prophet Ezekiel described a temple that has as of yet never existed. So, if the end times are going to occur, a temple must be present for these events to occur in. I have also heard rumors that the tools and supplies are already being gathered to build the temple. There is still the “little” problem of the Dome of the Rock Muslim mosque being on the site where the Jewish temple is supposed to be. So, if a Jewish temple is one day being built in Jerusalem, that would perhaps be a good sign that the end times are fast approaching

Armageddon began with the takeover or "seize of Jerusalem," back in 1948, by the Jewish and Christian people of the world, much to the dismay of the Muslim people of the world. According to Isaiah chapter 7, it will end 65 years later, or 2013. Our current war on terror promises to esculate, because there is no solution to our problem that suits everyone. Our problem is that the Muslim people of the world are not going to tolerate Jewish control of Jerusalem, and are therefore continue attacking us, which will insure that we continue attacking them.

Chris

It will begin when the Roman Empire decides to lay seige to Jerusalem. You can look for it to start around 70 AD, give or take. Watch for the Anti-Christ - he will be the Emperor Domition, who should appear around 96 AD, and will probably unleash an unprecedented persecution against the Christians in Anatolia.
