dont worry, its certainly not a blood bubble. Its cateracts. old aged dogs get it and it can make them go blind, but its very expensive and dangerous to remove. Your dog is old and she will probably get it in the other eye too, but dont worry it doesnt hurt them.
You can ask a vet but the best option is an operation. If you dont want one, then she'll be fine, dont worry. Jack russells are prone to this with old age.

There are several types of old age changes and injuries that could cause what you are describing as a glazed look. The redness however usually indicated irritation or infection. A vet will have to look at it to diagnose.

The above poster is incorrect about using saline, it can safely be used in dogs and cats. Products like Visine should not be used as they can cause burning. In this situation though, I dont think saline would be of any great use.

This could be a cateract which will make part of an eye or all the eye glazed or opaque. This is common in older dogs as in some older people. Please take her to the vet and get their opinion. I have known a number of dogs who have lost all or part of their vision and still gotten along very well but she will need you to help keep her safe by keeping her out of the road and away from drop offs etc. if she is seeing less well.

If you really want the best help for Jessie, take her to your vet - from an unprofessional point of view, it could be from a wound to the eye (walking into something sharp), as she is fairly low to the ground, or might be something more sinister; in either case, the vet is the only person qualified to advise you.
All the best.

She might have punctured her eye! It's possible that she has cataracts {the half moon} that if this is a new & sudden development then you should get her to the vet ASAP!

If she has ripped the cornea it might be possible to stitch it back in place.

In the meantime time you should put some oil in her eye...use a drop or 2 of mineral oil.

Gently squeeze the bottom eyelid, {both outside corners towards the middle} and make a little cup in the bottom lid & put the oil there. Do NOT use saline solution as it might burn the eye & damage it further.

You need to take her to the vet. What you're describing sounds like it could be the third eyelid showing, or it could be gray star, or it could be cataracts...

no one is going to be able to diagnose your dog over the internet (not even a vet), and even if we could, we couldn't cure her. Only a vet who sees the dog "in person" can help.

it sounds like cataracts, my dog got them and we never really noticed.it looked like the same thing with a white glaze and we took her to the vet.they said she was diabetic and need medicine and she was going to blind for the rest of her life. but the first little bit she would walk in to things but then she got use to it and we live on 10 acres. my dog was 11 to.so i really think you should go to the vet.becaus if the cataracts are only half way you might be able to save her sight.

good luck,i hope your dog is fine

It sounds like an eye infection - good luck at the vets.

It would help if you can get him to the vets. It may be that he is going blind or it could be something that can be rectified either way try the vet that's what they are there for.

It's something like a "blood bubble". You should go to the vet and he'll fix this. It's a common thing for dogs at this age.
