Yes. It does depend on the dog. Some bark a lot some less often. Our neighbor had a chihuahua who barked constantly. A friend of ours had one that seldom barked. The one whio seldom barked would bark when a stranger came or sometimes bark once or twice to say hi to a person he knew and would bark if he needed to go out and his person did not see him sitting by the door.

How about any time they want to and they want to most of the time. My daughter has one named Bambi and she is a barking nut case. Now, ask me if they bite. Our local shelter does not allow them to be adopted but gives them the purple needle because they do not resocialize in a home and bite way more than the normal dog. The only reason you don't hear more about them tearing people's faces off is because they are too small to reach much. The only people Bambi doesn't bite are my daughter, one granddaughter and myself. She bites about anyone else who comes to their home. She got all my 2 granddaughter's boy friends and can draw blood thru jeans. She hates the other granddaughter with a passion and will get going and chase her clear through the house trying to get to her. Amy usually has to jump up on the kitchen counter to get away from her and stay there until she calms down. Other than knocking on the door, the major thing that irritates her is waking her up. If you laid your clothes out on the bed before going in to take a shower, she will decide that looks like a cozy pile of clothes for a nap. So you come out of the bathroom in your robe and try to get her off your clothes and the fight is on. Slumber parties were not so fun either because she would curl up beside some kid who was sound asleep and if they move a leg or God forbid actually roll over, she's on them. This is not unusual behavior for a Chihuahua. I really think it's something genetic from having to cross the border between Mexico and the US illegally. I noticed the same mentality in the IAs who had the big rally last year. No, not really. I'm just pulling your leg with that one but they really are very loud barkers and very aggressive biters. Good thing they are so cute and do pick one or two people they like or they would probably be extinct. LOL

Absolutely. I have two and they bark often, and loudly. Compared to the lower pitch bark of a Great dane for example, Chihuahua's bark sharply and extremely piercing to the ear. Get's annoying fast but I've learned to live with it.

Every dog barks more or less, Chihuahuas are no exception. They bark when are happy or angry that's the way the communicate. You should listen to your dog and you'll see, there is a difference

Yes they do. They tend to bark quite often and pretty much everything. It is trainable but you have to spend time working on it.
