Okay here are some more details, I should have included......She chews the Nylabones for puppies, has an Orbie that, yes, I only use natural peanut butter in and that is a rare treat. As far as raw hide or beef bones, I do not want the small pieces to break off and choke her as she is a very strong chewer. She does however love ice cubes. Thanks for all the answers!! Keep them comming!

Dentabones or Nylabones are best. Never give them chicken or pork bones as they can choke or lodge in the intestine.
One point...if you start them out on rawhides it is hard to switch to Nyla or Dentabones later.

The last answer sounds great, I'm sure the cold would be beneficial, and it would certainly interest the dog in chewing on it. I did want to make one point, though. Commercial peanut butter is loaded with sugar, which is very hard on a pet's system. In fact, carbohydrates in general are not great for pets (yes, that includes dry pet food). It is not natural for these animals to eat so many carbs, and as a result their system can suffer greatly. WAY too many pets are becoming diabetic now..mimicing the human population's high carbohydrate diet and subsequent epidemic of diabetes and obesity.
So while I think the idea to add cold food is great, my suggestion is that you buy natural peanut butter. It is made of ground peanuts and either the natural peanut oil or a replacement oil, depending on the brand you buy. Just read the label to ensure there is no added sugar. And above all else don't use that low-fat peanut butter. That's just lower fat with double the sugar (and since carbs are what cause your body to store fat I fail to see the benefits, but they managed to market it to success anyway)
Anyway, hope this helps.
Poor little puppy. It's so hard to see them in pain, isn't it? Play with him to keep him busy and distracted, it'll help. Lots of walks and attention. Even petting him can help to distract, and he'll appreciate the attention. It'll be over soon and he'll be a happy pup again. Good luck.

Bully sticks are good. You can also soak a rag in water with a little chicken broth, tie it into a knot and freeze it. When you give it to her the cold with soothe her gums.
Kongs are good. Stuff with peanut butter and goodies and freeze.
