Myself and few friends in UK have just set up an organisation. We would like very much to help the children in our home country of Macedonia, as it is poor and a lot of children go to bed hungry. There is not enough medicine for children with leukemia, and orphans live in poor acomdations.
We are already organising events to raise money. The problem we have is that we don't know if we need to give them to another charity in Macedonia or could the trustees take the funds there themselfs and use them for where they are needed most. The country is buried in coruption and we don't want someone else to put the money in their pocket rather than use it for the children.

Dear Elena: You don't have to give the money to any other organization. You and your friends can take the money yourselves to Macedonia and buy the medications there or better yet, buy the medications in another country or the UK.

You can also recruit a few field volunteers of your trust in Macedonia and have them deliver the medications to hospitals, clinics, or to the patients themselves.

When my organization donates medications, we give it to the patients directly. And we take photos and videos of them receiving the medications from us. You'll need evidence of that delivery, to ensure that your testimony as organization and individuals of good will is never stained by anyone.

My most profound respect to you and everyone working with you.

This is a classic problem and I imagine there are people better qualified than myself to answer it, however here is my tuppence-worth: You will need a certain amount of organisation to distribute the money, and a clear idea of what you want to do with it. Much depends on the amounts you are talking about; if they are large, then a collaboration with an internal charity would be helpful - but stress 'collaboration' - you would need to have a person from your organisation in Macedonia, to keep an eye on things. If the amounts are small, then travel there and give it to places and people you know need it, in an informal way. But then track the projects and work which might be done with the money, so you can reassure donors that it is going to good ends. I have heard Macedonia is beautiful, and I hope to visit it soon - I love Albania, and it's a short step from there. I'm going out in July.

It would not help with their on the spot community so that they'd no longer be prepared to make a contribution to at least some thing the position they wont be in a position to make sure the outcomes. There are an abundance of charities in the route of residing house to donate to. yet an extra reason would nicely be that they don't look as knowledgeable about charities overseas and themes in different places. they'd no longer trust that their money is going to the right position in the journey that they have got not at all heard of the charity earlier or considered it.

As the other answerers have outlined, there are pros and cons in distributing the money yourself (organisational overheads and so on) or giving through another organisation (you have to find one you can trust). The responsibilities of running a charity in the UK are great - you will need to recruit trustees who know their responsibilities, complie accounts to regulatory standards, etc.
I suggest you go and see your local Council for Voluntary Service (nothing to do with the Council, they are a local umbrella organisation for charities) and they will talk you through noth options. See the website below to search for your local one.

contact Lions International They are the largest Volunteer orgnization in the world with 1.5 million members. They Serve the Community locally, nationally and Internationally. If you join as a member, you are then legal to raise funding, and you don't then have to waste prescious money on being a registered charity. Lions International as a whole will make sure the money is sent where it needs to be best used, on your advice, eg orphanges, hospitals clinics etc.

In the UK, you can register with 'Charity Commission' http://www.charity-commission.gov.uk/
They will want you to convince them of what you are doing. They will then grant you charity status and you can be in charge of your own money.
I am sure there is probably a similar organisation in Macedonia but you will have to seek them out. Sorry I couldn't be more help!
Good luck with everything, it is great what you are doing!

Why not try to donate to UNICEF? They help kids all over the world and they're not corrupted.
