A man once asked me the meaning of this:
"I had a dream/meditation where I sat with Jesus and Buddha around a campfire. Jesus said listen to Buddha and use his methods then come to me and we can find God".

You know, The story of the prodigal son if left in it's original form, it doesn't have the effect it should. I listened to a story called the hymn of the pearl a few years ago from the gnostic society's web lectures, and was amazed at the beauty of the symbolic meaning of these hidden truths. I was also struck numb by the ignorance of the ones responsible for the destruction of these sacred texts.

I think the parable of the Prodigal Son is very interesting, the young guy wants the good life and gets gets his inheritence and goes off and boy does he have a great time, wine, women and song, until the money runs out and he is left as a begger.
Coming home his older brother gets very angry and proceeds to say how righteous he is compared to the younger brother etc
It reminds me of how the Bible bashers react to those who do not follow Christianity and who condemn them to Hell.

I think the whole life and meaning of Jesus was a parable which was given its hidden meaning through the apostles because no one could figure out the meaning of Jesus by only looking at His life and death from the outside historically, and understand what it is said to signify, nobody could or would be able to know its heavenly significance.

The one about the lad with the plank in his eye is a good one. There is at least one person here who would benefit from rereading it.
