We added one to my sons house about a month ago. If you already have a disposal in the sink it is not that hard.
You need 25 in. of space next to the sink to fit in the dishwasher. You put a tee fitting in the hot water supply line to get water to dishwasher. Run the drain from the dishwasher to the garbage disposal and power from the outlet for the disposal to the dishwasher. It took us about 4 hours and that included a trip to the hardware store. Good luck.

There is no difference between installing it in a new or older house. You just need space for it. And a plumber to check whether the pipes are OK.

You need space next to the kitchen sink. It gets water from the sink and drains into the sink drain.

So as long as you can give up a cabinet you should be able to do it OK.

DO YOU HAVE THE SPACE BESIDE YOUR SINK AREA. YOU WILL NEED TO TIE INTO YOUR WATER AND DRAIN. YOU WILL ALSO NEED TO RUN A 15 AMP DEDICATED CIRCUIT TO POWER IT, BUT IT'S NOT THAT BAD. JUST MAKE SURE THAT IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE DOING THE ELECTRICAL HIRE A PROFESSIONAL.

That will depend on the water supply compared to the space where it will be put.
