if you've only just done it, then give it a week or so. it might lighten a little on it's own, mine usually does. If it doesn't, go to a professional or you risk ending up with a worse colour or wrecking your hair

Either get another lighter dye, buy a highlighting kit to break up the block of dark colour or make an appointment with a hairdresser.
I've used the dark brown dyes before and depending on what make you used the colour really doesn't fade that much (compared to lighter ones). On the bright side it starts off looking almost black but it does give you a lovely shine, unlike black dyes that end up making your hair dull. Remember for next time that whatever colour is on the box, think of a couple of shades darker and you'll get a better idea of what colour its going to be. Good luck!

I have major experience and been in these situations before.

Get two boxes of Loreal color and do the following: Allow hair to become permanently lightened - allow to turn blond (this will be light strawberryish blond using the number Blondissimes Haircolor, Extra Light Ash Blonde LB01 if you have dark hair) = what youll get from this first dye.

Then dye Light Ash Brown with "Superior Preference".

step 1: use all of one: L'Oreal Preference les Blondissimes Haircolor, Extra Light Ash Blonde LB01, 1 ea

Then use all of one bottle of L'Oreal Superior Preference Haircolor #6A Light Ash Brown. This process should set you straight.

LOreal brand be superb and so shiny ! They are THE gentlest brand out there and quickest.

Hair dye be a science to be taken seriously.

I hope you use Loreal when using permanent hair color.

It depends if you JUST did it after a little while..maybe 3 days or so it should lightn a little or they have special shampoos that can lighten it up or you could also get a lighter color die and mix it in but very little otherwise it'll totally change color
