In my opinion, from what my sister-in-law says about the Uk, everything here in the US is cheaper. The Prime Minister of the Uk should really do something about helping his people out in that section. Electrical equipments are a no-no because you are going to pay an arm and a leg at customs, plus you should really think about the wattage. I doubt that you will be able to plug it directly into the outlet because of the difference. But apart from that go ahead and shop my dear.

Almost everything is cheaper in the United States than in the EU, particularly at current exchange rates. However, realize that on most things you will pay about 10% additional in sales tax. This is the American equivalent of VAT, but it is added at the end rather than included in the posted price.

Everything is cheaper in NYC than the UK. The pound is much stronger than the dollar and even when the dollar was strong, clothing, jewelry and other items were still cheaper in NYC.

Remeber that there is a limit on things you can bring into the UK through Customs. Also, remember that if electricals break or are faulty - you won't be able to return them very easily.
