i don't think this is a zit.it started out as a little red bump now it's swollen mostly on the inside of her lip. the red bump is gone but it seems to get more inflamed and painful.

Is this spot actually on her lip? Or is it just on the lip line? If it is just on the line of the lip, it might just be a super zit. In that case, she should apply heat, with a clean washrag- hot as she can stand as often as she can stand. And meantime, she should leave it alone, not poking or prodding it and not squeezing it anymore. The heat will encourage it to form a head and drain all on it's own without any assistance required. If you keep squeezing it, you can rupture it beneath the skin and make matters worse. Just apply the heat. She could probably take something for the pain, but should check with her doctor first for his recommendation at this point. If it is a super zit, heat should get it to drain in a day or so- how soon depends on how advanced it is. It will be painful until it does drain, no matter what you do. Do not apply potions or such to it, and do not try to "lance" it. When it is ready, you will see the pus on the top center of the spot. Even then, do not poke it. Do nothing except heat until it begins to drain on its own. Then depending on her pain tolerance, heat and a gentle pressure will drain it completely.
If this spot is actually on her lip, then apply ice to reduce the swelling. She probably should see a doctor for an evaluation to determine what it actually is- since you do not get zits on the lip itself. An infection in her mouth at this point in pregnancy needs professional attention.

I am not an expert, but it sounds like it could be a bad cold sore....
