Jesus bore your sins and iniquities.

He knew that human beings would have no chance to be reunited with God unless he became human. By becoming human he also took our sinful nature, and risked everything by even coming here in the first place.

He agonized over you in Gethsemane, how he longs to see your heart touched with the love that he has manifested toward you.

He cried something to the effect of Eli Eli lamasabachthani, because at the end of time, after the judgement, that was the fate for every human, eternal separation from God, eternal death.

But he took our place, and not only did he die as a human, but part of God died that day for you and for me, i pray you accept him into your heart.

God bless!!

The premise is that Jesus took on the sins of all the world at the cross.
When that happened, Christ bore the punishment for all of those sins. The punishment was that God turned his back on Jesus. Christ then descended into hell, and rose from the dead three days later.
Because Christ took the punishment, God no longer foresakens us. The punishment was taken by someone else, christ.
We're just supposed to accept what christ did in order to take part in it.

Edit:

Yipee. Get a thumbs down for just trying to explain why christ said that.
To whoever gave that: I winner is joo.

Read Psalm 22. This is a fulfillment of that. See especially verse 1 where it says the same thing! and verse 16.

Because God took everyones sins and blamed it all and all punishment on Jesus. Also that phrase is often brought up because soem people thought he was calling on the phrophet Elijah, says the Bible.
