I even have heard that alot of American women want to date alot of European men because men such as the English and French treat women better than American men from what I heard. Even Madonna married an Englishman and now calls England her home.

I am middle eastern and I recently moved to the OC, California about 2 years ago. It was huge culture shock when I first got here, so I got to kind of see things from a third eye perspective. Alot of you people(not you in specific, just in general) are extremely selfish. Americans are just plain selfish. The women and the men. They each want what is best for them. In a typical American marriage there is no compromise. Whatever happened to a loving wife that made sure her husband came home to a delicious meal everyday after work cooked from her heart. It seems that men just show their love through handing their wives a credit card. Then they each realise that they want to do other things in life, they dont even care about who they are hurting. That's why all the kids here are so screwed up and on drugs all the time. Because the parents are selfish! They are too busy worrying about their own lives that they forget about taking responsibility for the lives that they brought into this world! Americans need to wake up and realise that "marriage" is not just being with the person you love or think you love. It's about understanding that you are making a vow under the eyes of God to cherish and serve your partner for life.

Well for American males any incentive to get married has been effectively destroyed by lop-sided laws and the disintegration of traditional gender roles in our culture. Women are increasingly independant and the traditional structure of the family is gone because women also have to work now to make ends meet. Since our society is pretty much run by greed Men can get anything outside of marriage that they would get in a marriage so there is no reason for them to stick around. Also, I think that it has to do with the fact that women in this country are torn between wanting a career and starting a family so they get married in the hopes of doing both and they get too busy and the relationship falls apart.

Do you know what I think? Couples give up way too easily.

Also the dynamics have changed between husband and wife, some women refuse to be the slave of the house (and rightfully so), thus, roles in the marriage have been a little unclear. Couples think they are been short changed and not getting what they were expecting out of the marriage. Couples become resentful of one another as he/she thinks they are being taken for granted or aren't appreciated. It is just too easy to bite and bite back, it is too easy to let the fury get out of control. He/ she will feel wounded, and decide that there is no way to resolve this situation. All they see is a monster where once was the love of their life......
So next time you fight with your partner, take a step back from the situation. Tell them that your love is bigger than this stupid problem, and then hopefully your partner will feel the same.

I wouldn't want to marry a european...but then I don't want to marry again. I figure the divorce rate is so high is because we have a higher rate of choices. Women don't have to be submissve to men. We don't feel the need to turn away and ignore it when our spouses want to phuck around, we don't put up with it. European women do because they are taught to. My mother's family came from Greece, it is still very acceptable for a married man to have a mistress AND for his mistress to live in his house where his WIFE waits on the mistress...do you know how well that would go over here in the U.S.? Show of hands ladies? How many of you would ALLOW your husband to bring his mistress into YOUR HOME and expect YOU to wait on HER? Is that a resounding "OH HELL NO!" that I hear?

Because over here in America Women have rights, we have what is called "Choices". We don't have to put up with anything from any man if we don't want to, meaning if our Husbands treat us like dirt, we can decide to divorce them. We don't have to put up with abuse, physically or mentally. We don't have arranged marriages, like marrying our cousins, which is disgusting. If other country's gave their women as much rights as Americans, we would probably have the lowest rate. Because, I am sure there are millions of women wo are in terrible relationships in those other country's who would divorce if they could.

The U.S has more internet and all the married guys are on the internet looking to hook up with some strange stuff and they neglect their women. you can't really use madonna as an example though, she isn't exactly your picture of sanity and she has had a lot of exposure in the U.S. every one that wanted a ride has gotten it, she had to look elsewhere, nothing left here except schoolboys, not that she is opposed to them. they kept calling her mom when she popped a t.it in their mouth.

America, ironically, has a very ignorant culture. More stock is placed on tradition than on pragmatism. As a result, open communication and ingenuity are rare commodities. Without these, any relationship is doomed.

Honestly, the unwillingness to be direct sickens me.

Because Americans think that we are entilted to instant gratification. We don't want to work at making a marriage work, if we are not "happy" right then, we want out. Most people lack the self insight to compromise and little daily thing out in order to make their marriage a happy one.

That's easy we gave woman equal rights. Now they want to use them, so we get rid of them. Plus woman are impossible to figure out, and for the guy who thinks he has them figured out, well, he is a tard.
