The most important thing you can do is to let him know you support his decision.
Then when he is at RTC (Navy Boot camp), just as soon as you get his address write to him EVERYDAY! Tell everyone close to him to do the same thing. Those letters, cards and notes will be what keeps him going.
For your own piece-of-mind join a Navy support group. There are several good groups on-line for girl friends, wives, mothers, family and friends.
DO NOT send packages or care packages to boot camp. That will only get the recruit in TROUBLE! Also avoid sending post cards, many times they will be read out loud to everyone before making it to the recipient.

Is he in Iraq or in training? Are you with him where he's stationed? If he's away and you're here, an excellent way to show you support him is by sending him care packages and love letters with pictures of you---- there's nothing worse than to be away from family and loved ones and have mail day, with nothing coming to you. Also, I understand food is not that plentiful over there so if you put his favorites in a care package, together with reading material, a special pillow perhaps -- join a navy wife's group if there's one in your area -- there's so many ways to show him you support him.
