Check what his insurance coverage was. Technically his medical liability should cover all other people who's injured, including his own passengers, so ask his insurance company, tell them you are also injured in the accident, and here's the hospital bill. They'll verify your story and let you know if you're covered or not. If not, THEN you can sue your friend (who'll likely refer you to his insurance).

I'm from Canada but according to my research there is a portion of your car insurance named "accident benefits" which depending by state may be mandatory. You should check with a local insurance company about this. The accident benefits portion of you car insurance will pay money for the driver and any occupants in the car for medical expenses and even funerals. Just call a local insurance company and ask a certified broker about it. He/She should be able to tell you everything you want to know about it.
If he's covered the the insurance company has to pay for your expenses. If not you'll have to sue your friend for the mediacal expense costs

No, you have to sue him. Then his insurance company will defend him. You don't have to sue him to get a claim handled. You just contact them and say that you want to make a claim against him. No one can tell you how much you can get, you didn't tell us enough about your injury and treatment and recovery, age, etc.

Hello....you can't sue the insurance company, you have to sue your best friend. Why? Because the insurance company isn't who broke your arm; your best friends negligence did.

Luckily, this is America. Nowdays it seems that everyone wants to sue everybody about anything. With this logic, yeah, get a lawyer and I'm sure he'll be glad to sue anybody you want. God bless America and all the greedy lawyers too.

You would have to sue him, not his insurance. Liability only covers damage done to another vehicle and its occupants...not his own vehicle and occupants.
