Todays last names come from basic names.
EX: Bill Johnson (Bill - John's Son)
EX: Bob Fisher (Bob - Fisherman)

Even Jesus didn't have a last name Christ meant savior/Messiah
He was commonly Known by where he was from Jesus of Nazareth. (Nazareth his home town)
