It completely depends on the child. I do home daycare and I have a 4 year old who is just recently able to be independent with that and I have a 2 year old who is independent in the bathroom.

I think at around 3 and by the time they are 4 they should be able to do this on their own. Also, it's only been a week. Maybe in a month or so she'll be doing this on her own as she gets more used to going potty.

My son is almost 4 and can go potty by himslef (#1 & #2) though I still need to wipe after #2. He just calls me when he's ready.

I think by 5 he should be able to wipe himself but for now, I would rather make sure it's done right.

I just potty trained an almost 3 year old and she goes all by her self. I still have to check her when she goes as she thinks it's funny to use a lot of toilet paper or her flushable wipes. But she can wipe herself. Once in a great while she will call me for help. She even washes her own hands after she is done. She has a stool in the bathroom to use.

I agree with putting her in loose fitting clothing. With mine we put her in a dress with nothing underneath. or a pair of easy on/off pants with nothing underneath. It worked very well. She can now get her jeans on and off.

my daughter wasn't totally potty trained until she was 3. But now she does everything herself. She might need help with a belt or something, but she can get her clothes off, get on the toilet, and wipe herself. you should put her in a dress, or loose fitting pants, until she learns to do it herself. That makes it easier.
5 years is too old. By the time they are in preschool, they should pretty much know how to do it by themselves!!
Good luck

as soon as they can get on and off the potty by them selves and pull up there own pants but you will still have to help with the wiping part for a few years

I would say that there are two factors here, the readiness of the child and how easy it is for her to access the bathroom (is the toilet seat low enough for her to climb up by herself, is there a step stool, etc.) I would think that she would be ready before 5 to go to the bathroom by herself. I nannied for a little boy who was 2 and a half and he went to the bathroom all by himself, I just had to help him wash his hands.

every child is different but I think by the age of 3 they should be able to do it ! my two year old goes to the toilet by himself ! he has a little stepbox and he climbs up like that ! he can pull his undies off but he can't put it back on !!
your daughter is doing great ....congratulations ..it took me a month to potty train my boy !!

How old is she now? They usually get it all together around age 3 but boys take longer than girls, almost another 6 months or more.

Well, with my son it was about 5 yrs old, but my daughter was 4 yrs old. I guess it depends on the child.
