BOTH Pilate and Judas should be Big Heroes to all Christians. God planned the killing, and they did his dirty work.

Seeing as how I'm an ancient history major, I really am iffy about going into the religious portion of this, but if I must I will.
In the Church, Pilate would be a Saint if God came to him and told him that he must hand Jesus over to the Jewish people. However, this is not what happened. Pontius Pilate was not doing God's work, he was a good Roman and did what was politically expedient. Before Jesus the Roman occupation had already been forced to call Rome for reinforcements to quell the Jewish rebellions. It was such a problem that the Ceasar told Pilate that if another rebellion occured that he would be killed and replaced. Pilate gave Jesus to the Jews so that in no way the Jews could blame him for doing the "wrong thing" with Jesus, so there wouldn't be a reason to rebel. So no, Pilate was not a Saint, but definitely a good politician.

No, it just proves how weak man's mind is because evil can manipulate it so easily.Ofcourse, Father God allowed it to give weak man a chance. Without the death of Jesus mankind could not expect to receive the kingdom of heaven.
