I am seriously annoyed when people replace the word Stretching with Gauging, and when the various terms for plugs(earlets, tunnels, etc) are referred to as "gauges". If you were to Gauge the amount of air in a tire, you wouldn't be stretching it, and the "gauges" you have in your ear can't be used to measure anything.

lol i use the term stretching as well i want to go up to an 8 at the most. soon i will be at a 12g. But yes gauge only refers to the size (diameter/thickness) of the jewelry.. your ears don't. what you are doing to your ears is "stretching them" not gauging. but now that you point it out its bothering me too! ha ha. hmm i cant wait to get my jewelry in the mail. what size are you ears? what are the "gauged" to? lol jk!!!!

wow thats really bothering me now! rrreeewwrrr...

ouchies! that sounds pretty extreme to me! good luck with that though! =D

It's like when people refer to their various body piercings like this:
"I have a belly pierce." Or a "toungue pierce." I don't like that, either. When I stretched my ears, i constantly heard that - "he has gauges"... always made me think of a tachometer or an oil pressure display on my face.

This is the tattoo category. Not the "Webster's definition" category. People use all sort of different terms depending on what region they happen to be from. Lighten up.

i guess you are the only one bothered by it by the lack of response. i really don't care. how about "big giant ear holes"? a lot of my friends both guys and girls have stretched ear lobes. it's not a big deal and it's not something that we talk about at length and i really don't know all of the terminology for it because... i just don't. sorry it aggravates you tho, maybe you have spread a little education about "big giant ear holes".
