I have a large file in MSword format containing the names, dates of birth, profession, date of marriage etc) in that order. Can anyone tell me how to convert it into an excel or a Lotus 123 worksheet so that I can arrange them in any order I like (Alphabetically or date of birth-wise, for instance?)

Assuming you have used a table in Word then a copy and paste will do it for you, since Word and Excel work nicely together as long as the information is presentable to Excel in your case.

If not in Table in Word, there is a feature in excel to parse the info out.

First copy the data into Excel. Then select menu "Data", "Convert text to Colunms".
You can chose the character to use to seperate the text.

Works great if you have a good separation to the data.
