Basically, a person who is legally insane is out of touch with reality, disoriented and sometimes hearing voices in their head.
A psychopath can be sane but has a severe antisocial disorder, often leading to violence, complete disrespect for others and society in general. A psychopath is frequently much more dangerous to others than one who is insane.

Essentially the conscious that tells us that what we're doing is wrong, they don't hear or they completely ignore w/o suffering the guilt the rest of society feels.

Merriam Webster defines a psychopath as: a mentally ill or unstable person; especially a person affected with antisocial personality disorder.
Insanity is: 1 : a deranged state of the mind usually occurring as a specific disorder (as schizophrenia)
2 : such unsoundness of mind or lack of understanding as prevents one from having the mental capacity required by law to enter into a particular relationship, status, or transaction or as removes one from criminal or civil responsibility
