I stopped wearing my earring about 6 years ago. I just had one ear pierced. About 1 month ago, and again starting yesterday, I've had swelling and pain where the hole 'used' to be, which I can only guess is an infection. I don't ever remember having an infection before the occurence 1 month ago (while I had just written off at the time since it was the first time). Is this normal? Don't want to end up losing an ear or something! Thanks.

have u changed your earrings from the ones they put in?
Gold plate can cause allergy to metal
Silver too-- if it's not high grade sterling it can have nickle in it,
20% of us are allergic to nickle, which is in gold filled, and silver.

use rubbing alcohol, 2x's a day, twist the earring like suggested.
Don't try Hydrogen proxide, as it can eat the flesh and make it worse!

see the doctor on Monday if it's not better.

just clean around it.
Be sure to have the original earrings in.

Did you change the earrings and then this happened?

Tea Tree Oil penetrates the skin and has antibiotic qualities. Apply it a few times daily to both sides of your earlobe.
