What assurance you have of your salvation?

I believe that all forgiven people go to heaven. To be forgiven you need to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, because He is the way and the truth and the light.

If you think that is all you have to do, you should go back and read the rest. If you think that this is the only thing you have to do you have been misinformed.

Let the bible speak.

OT
Ecc 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this [is] the whole [duty] of man.
NT
1Jo 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

NT
Luk 24:44 And he said unto them, These [are] the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and [in] the prophets, and [in] the psalms, concerning me.

No such thing as salvation by deeds Sorry.
Salvation means being saved from suffering of some kind. In theology, the study of salvation is called soteriology. Salvation is an important concept in several religions. Christianity regards salvation as deliverance from bondage to sin and condemnation.

You've "done enough" when you follow what Jesus' requirements were to "work" your way into Heaven. I think He was saying that it was impossible though. You can't do it on your own.

Thanks for the Arminian inputs on what salvation consists of. I'm sure you'll get a lot of agreement from that side of the theological fence.

I would say that even though we must do something that does not take away from the fact that our dees cannot save us, it still depends on Gods soverieng choice and mercy, because the point is God can reject us with our deeds or accept us without them and yet the opposite is still true as well. He can certainly accept us with deeds and reject us without them, so it is a dead point.

Shall we say, then, that God is unjust? Not at all. 15 For he said to Moses, "I will have mercy on anyone I wish; I will take pity on anyone I wish." 16 So then, everything depends, not on what we humans want or do, but only on God's mercy.

We do not gain salvation by doing "deeds", for starters.

Deeds without faith is dead.
