How old do you have to be to buy/drink alcohol in Italy?

In order to BUY alcoholic you must be 16. Trust, me 16, not 18!
They're discussing just now if bringing the age up to 18, and also in province of Bolzano somebody asked to do that, a few weeks ago, but the reply was local administration can't do that, it's up to Italian Government.
So, now it's still 16. Even if apparently a lot of Italian residents seem not to be aware of that...
There's anyway no age limitation about DRINKING.

I think it's like 15 or 16.

18... but they don't check ID, so really it's no big deal. It's like that all over Europe.

18, but they don't even ask for an ID. you can just say that its for your mom if they do ask
