!!! that is way too early to have a touchup done! your skin hasn't even properly healed yet before you let her rip right back into it! not to mention that neck tattoos are pretty sensitive. good luck with your apprentice tattoos. you are more gracious with your skin than i would be. especially on your neck, what a visible tattoo to let an unexperienced person mark you. good luck.

Here is the advice of a tattoo artist: How long was it between the first time to the rework? The scabbing naturally makes the dermis very sensitive and re-tattooing the area very difficult. Keloid (scarring) skin is always tougher and more responsive to reinjury, hence the tattooing, and may cause the dermis to reject ink and/or react with pain, redness, and dryness. The best solution is use vitamin e ointment and Tattoo Goo. If the redness and itchyness bothers you, you can use cortizone 10 to relieve the symptoms. If the skin's symptoms persist beyond 10-14 days, please see a dermatologist.

I had to get one of my tattoo's touched up. The first time I got this tattoo, it was pretty much no sweat. The touch up however, to quote you "hurt like hell". I know that the artist I went to is good. The tattoo looks great now. I think it's because he really wanted to get the ink in and also, a bit of scar tissue has built up in the tattoo, so they have to go into that and it hurts more, in my experience. HOWEVER; it could be that your friend was a bit heavy handed, which can result in needless tissue damage and excessive scarring. There is really nothing you can do now but take care of it and let it heal, then you will see if there's damage. Let your friend know if so, hopefully she'll become a better artist.

Putting ink in your skin the first time doesnt hurt that much but like all skin injurys they heal and scar. Even if you dont see the scarring on the outside there is scaring underneath. Scar tissue tends to be denser and less likely to take new ink. So, second time around its gonna hurt more plus the neck is a sensitive spot.No worries.

generally it never hurts, mine didnt, but having going back and redoing it may have been done deeper on purpose as a way to keep it from fading and it might also be that the area has already been irritated and it aroused it, kinda like reshaving over a razor burn

Scabs are normal, they can take up to 2 weeks to heal, just like a cut. Use unscented lotion and keep your hands away from it.

sounds like a clasic case of going to deep... turn down that needle depth... anyone experienced wouldnt even have to do a touch up.. but newbies do LOL.. the scabbing also tells me shes going to deep.. but its not really anything to worry about.. its a learning curve..

if you see little beads of blood or if blowing on it hurts, see a doctor. sea salt mixed with water and sprayed on will heal it.

dont let it dry out or it will spread the ink or scar, just get some moisturizeing lotion and keep it moist!
