First of all there is very little historical writing about Jesus during his lifetime and decades after his death. The only source from which we partially can learn about Jesus, besides the Gospels of Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John, is the very brief and shady account written by Jewish historian Josephus. Now although Jesus is said to have been a Jew, most of the people that came to be his followers were not necessarily Jews. Jesus did not explicitly reject the Jews law and scriptures, but his teaching somewhat deviated from it. And so the Christians, are the people who follow the teachings of Jesus. Christian does not necessarily mean, a Catholic, a Protestant, or a whole host of denominations. And historically, Christians have had all sorts of beliefs. There have been early Christians who have rejected the divinity of Christ, yet they have called themselves Christians. I would recommend a book by Bart Ehrman called The Lost Christianities.

Jews today don't believe that Jesus was the Messiah; they're still waiting for their Savor to come. To be a Christians you must believe that Jesus was the Messiah and that he was the Son of God. That's why they're called "Christ"ians; because they believe that Jesus was Christ. Jesus being Jewish doesn't mean anything because if you accept Jesus as Christ then you're a Christian. And if you're Jewish than Jesus isn't even a priority.
So it's like these
Jesus + Son of God + Savor = Christian
Jesus + Son of Man + Not Savor = Jewish

For a very long time, christianity was considered a sect of Judiasm.
Two major things happened to change this. The first was the stoning of Steven in Jerusalem. That forced christianity to decentralize from the Temple at Jerusalem. The christians scattered, and were usually not welcomed anywhere by other jews.
The second thing was a set of Jewish revolts against the Roman Empire. The jews openly attacked the romans, and their rebellions were crushed, and the jews scattered.
The 'christian jews' took no part in the revolts because, for one, their were very few of them in Jerusalem; and two, they were pacifists. At this point, the empire largele over looked them because the Christians made sure to distance themselves from Judiasm in the eyes of the Romans. It would be nearly another century before the Romans would take aim at the christians.
Upon distancing themselves from the Jews, the christians began setting up their own, but small, organization structure that was set apart from the jews.

The name Christian means Christ follower. Yes, He is Jewish, God planned it that way so that Jesus would come through Abraham's bloodline to Mary. Our Christianity comes because of Jesus and the Jewish Faith..The Jews were and still are God's chosen people. They always have been special to Him.

Why is Jesus portrayed with blonde hair and blue eyes when He is of middle eastern descent and is described in the Bible as having skin of bronze and hair of wool. Why do hate groups burn the cross in His name and say they HATE JEWS and Jesus was Jewish? There are inconsistencies brought on by man. Perceptions were changed to dictate to the needs of the changing society to assure "acceptance". You can't make much money from Christians with a dark skinned, coarse haired man on the cross, and other like religions would not accept this persona either. Jesus' images and religious basis is a "catered" depiction.

Lol Christianity is based on Jesus himself, their ideas are different from Judaism. Yes Jesus was Jewish so in a way Christians are based from Judaism, but unlike Judaism...Christianity is based on the fact that Jesus was the son of God.

People are called Christians because they follow Christ. Yes, Jesus Christ is a Jew, but when He was rejected by the Jews (God's chosen people), He instructed His followers to carry the message to the rest of the world. There are many Jews who are also Christians.

Because they are called Christian in the Bible.
Acts 11:26 "And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch."

well im jewish
and this is what i have learned:
christians believe that jesus was jewish just
like us jews do.
christianity was supposedly started by jesus....
and the people who believed that he was god's son
broke into christianity and people who believed that
he could not possibly have a son, that he is the one
and only... remained jewish.
