I met my husband online 8 years ago. We emailed and talked on the phone for about two weeks before our first date, and from the second date on we were talking about marriage! We got engaged after 7 months of dating and got married 9 months after that. Unfortunately our marriage only lasted 5 years, but that doesn't have anything to do with how we met! We have tried to stay friendly for our son's sake and I think we get along better now than we did when we were married.
PS - I just met another guy online and we have started dating. The online thing hasn't fazed me at all.
Aloha :)

I did and I'm very glad I did! I have been married over a year and I am happier than I've ever been in my life. I actually met my husband through yahoo personals. I set up an account while in college because of a dare... and a co-worker set up my husband's account without him knowing. When the guy show my picture and read my profile, he made my husband look at it and told him what he had done. He obviously liked what he saw... and send me a message. Come to find out... we lived two miles from one another and knew each others siblings. He is definitely my soul mate. It's not for everyone though. I know lots of people that have met their spouses this way... and many are still happily married.

Online dating is hit and miss. I had an LTR for 3 years via a local telephone-dating line (although, if I were honest, I knew early on that it wasn't likely to be permanent) and I've dated probably half a dozen women met via online ads.
Due to a medical condition, my full adult height is 4'9". I could often tell, the first time we met in person, that some of these women had convinced themselves that I had made a typo in that part of my ad.
Also due to my condition, I have a hearing loss. After one date gone bad because the woman "didn't like being stared at" (even after I explained that I was not "staring" but trying to read her lips in a noisy restaurant) I finally got frustrated by my lack of success and typed "disabled personals" into Yahoo, figuring that maybe at least advertising on such a site might at least level my playing field a bit.
I ended up at a website called lovebyrd.com. I wrote to three people. The first one never wrote back. The second one, we still are friends and talk from time to time. The third one and I are getting married later this year. :-)

Met my fiance on an internet forum. Not a dating site, just a forum we both frequented.
He then created a club and I started visiting his clubs site.
After a few months I met him face to face (we were talking almost daily online) and we've been together for almost four years now, engaged Aug '06.
We lived 2 1/2 hours one way for almost 1 1/2 years before I moved to be with him.
Getting married June 2008.

I've been married six years. Met my wife thru datingfaces.com. We were 400 miles apart, but I would drive up on the weekends. We married after communicating and seeing each other for about 6 months. It works despite the doubts people have.

My husband and I used the pre-Internet way to meet: a dating service through a newspaper. We have been married 30 years and still love each other. If the Internet had been available, we would have used that!

i met my husband on yahoo personals. we have been married for almost a year now. we are expecting our first baby in april. you cant really judge everyone by online dating. there are some strange ones, bad ones, and some are even good. you just have to know how to leave the crazy ones alone. but there are good out there.

My best friend did too...back in 2003. At the time; she was a single, divorced mother of 1-son(junior)and 3-daughters(1-freshman,1-7th grade,1-6th grade)from Missouri AND he was a single, divorced father of 1-daughter(3rd grade)from Iowa. They met on American Singles. They came to see me a few mths ago AND they were all very happy. I swear I thought the BRADY BUNCH came to visit me. They all piled out of van..lol. I myself am a single, divorced mother of 1-son(4th grade)and I could never imagine nor have enough faith in online single sites to ever meet a guy online...in person. Happy 4 u all; though.

Interesting to see how many responses you get.
