and i know we wont see the judge until monday. but i am wondering what is going to happen. he stole 4,000 dollars worth of stuff ( ie a ps3, ipods, a laptop) from his work (walmart). he is not a flight risk and this would be the first thing on his record. he has nothing prior to this. he is 19 and i know it was stupid of him. what do you think will happen? wal-mart got there stuff back. also do you think they will set bail? and if you think they will how much do you think it will be?

It all depends on when he sees the judge and what walmart is trying him for and such. It also depends on the state because all states have different levels of bail depending on the crime and such. I am sure that it will be in the thousands, and then he has to appear before the judge at another time unless he pleads guilty, take the community service and the fees and goes about his life. Since you admitted on here that he did it, probably should go with guilty. I hope that he realizes that with that on his record he probably is NEVER going to get another job at a retail place. Maybe not even at a food place with money. He screwed himself up pretty bad and depending on the level of crime they charge him with he might not have that off his record for awhile. Did he give it back to Walmart or did the cops come and get it? They will set bail, since he is a first timer.

Bail will be set for sure, because he is not a flight risk and this is his first offense and it was not a violent crime. Depending on your state law, it looks like he could be facing a felony, which would make the bail a good bit more. Your probably looking at around $50,000 or less. Which in most states you can post a 10% bond, which would make it less expensive to get out.

First offense, yeah he'll probably get bail and it won't be all that much.
Keep in mind that he is an adult and this is a felony offense. I kinda doubt he'll do any real time unless the judge is in a pissy mood. Most likely probation for a couple years.
Hope your boyfriend gets his head out of his butt. Going to be tough to find a decent job with a theft record.

He should be allowed bond, but the thing that questions me, is you happen to mention "flight risk", so considering this and if it is his first offense, is he here illegally or why would the term flight risk, even be mentioned?>??? But even though Wal-mart got their stuff back, he will propbably only get community service and or a fine..???

Yes he will get bail. The amount will depend on his record, if he has a job and a stable living eviorment Depending on the state he is arrested in will determine the punishment he faces. It should not be to severe if it is his first offense, if he is contrite, and will make amends, will all be taken into consideration upon conviction and sentencing.

You need to detach yourself from this guy. Let his parents worry about getting him out. He is 19 and he has committed a felony that will be on his record for the rest of his life. Do yourself a favor and get out now while you still can !!! Also, you may be implicated as well since you are his girlfriend, so watch out.

$1,000 is considered grand theft, so $4,000 in theft is definitely a felony. The punishment is unclear, but he will get something, plus a record that will follow him. Is he on crack or just stupid?? Is this the first time he stole or just the first time he got caught? Move on, dear!

What you pay for bail is 1/10th of what is set. I'm not sure how much it will be, but surely not over $5000. So have at least $500 ready.

I don't know, but why are you dating such a loser?

If he can steal that much stuff from his own job, he's not a very trustworthy person. Why should you trust him?
