Should I forgive her? This battle is still going on 11/2 year later! Not only did this great grandma walk out ,but she never made the effort to call and say she was sorry! She was mad because her son (bride grandfather) showed up with his girlfriend(who was invited) and set where she was suppose to.This really upset everyone and the grandfather didn't show up to the reception, because he didn't want more trouble,he did say he was sorry to the bride who understood his reasons. What would you do?

Wisdom does not automatically come with age, that is obvious. Youd think she would have gained some maturity by her age and realize a wedding is not the place to stage her personal drama.
I say forgive her in your heart but dont subject yourself to any more of her drama. If she tries to pull anything let her know how you feel right away and dont put up with it.

I really don't understand this. The great grandmother's son and his girlfriend sat where the great grandmother was supposed to and this couldn't be fixed at the time but festered for a year and a half? I don't get why the grandfather didn't show up at the reception unless great grandma decided to come back for it, which is kind of strange after walking out of the wedding.

Sorry to say, this isn't the worst I've heard. A girl from a white family married a boy from an Hispanic family at a resort hotel, and the father of the Hispanic groom was so upset about his son marrying a Gringo that he had to be removed by hotel security FROM THE WEDDING! Oh, well. Racists come in all colors.

All you really can do is to just let it go. It happened and it wasnt fun but its over and done with. For a great grandma to walk out of the wedding must have been really really upset. Why is your knowledge not mine. You arent gonna change her mind as it is set or she would not have walked out. Just let her have her own opinion on that.

well just forgive her, it was unthoughtful of her, but what can you do now? some times older people are self centered.
if you want to see her just keep it short, 30 min at the most.
do not give her the power to turn it nasty, i would not mention the event, i would really just take the high road.
