There are a few web sites that will teach you some photoshop for free.

There are some things that can be done in photoshop to enhance the pictures, but most of the "professional" look is done at the time of the shoot. You need to have good lighting, good angle, sharp focus, exposure must be dead on or pretty close.
If your shot is garbage, no amount of photoshop can make it good.

Get a book on your software and try the tricks you like best. I also recommend you take PhotoShop classes at your local community college.
