The Jews

2007-02-24 16:45:25 · answer #1 · answered by Izzy 5 · 3 4

Well it very much depends which God you are talking about. All throughout history, different people have held different beliefs, and have authored many myths. And each of the peoples have proclaimed that they are the chosen people by their God. The Jew claim that they are the chosen people, because they believe in the God of Judaism, and it only make sense that their God would choose them. But we must not forget that Christianity, Judaism, and Islam aren't the only religions. And that the God of the Bible is not universally accepted.

The Nation Israel are God's chosen people to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory and the covenants, and the giving of the law and the service of God and the promises. Read Romans 9. "Subject yourselves, therefore, to God; but oppose the Devil, and he will flee from YOU. Draw close to God, and he will draw close to YOU. "--James 4:7,8

" Now the works of the flesh are manifest, and they are fornication, uncleanness, loose conduct, idolatry, practice of spiritism, enmities, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, contentions, divisions, sects, envies, drunken bouts, revelries, and things like these. As to these things I am forewarning YOU, the same way as I did forewarn YOU, that those who practice such things will not inherit God’s kingdom."
"On the other hand, the fruitage of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. Moreover, those who belong to Christ Jesus impaled the flesh together with its passions and desires." -- Galations 5:19-24

"One of the scribes that had come up and heard them disputing, knowing that he had answered them in a fine way, asked him: “Which commandment is first of all?” Jesus answered: “The first is, ‘Hear, O Israel, Jehovah our God is one Jehovah, and you must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind and with your whole strength.’ The second is this, ‘You must love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” --Mark 12:28-31

In 70 CE, the Jewish system of things came to its end. All records of the tribes of Israel were demolished along with the Temple in Jerusalem. If God was planning to reestablish his Kingdom through them, this would not have been allowed. Plus, Jesus showed Peter in vision that God was no longer exclusively interested in the Jews only. An angel instructed Cornelius (an uncircumsized Gentile) to send for Peter, who responded. Many eyewitnesses who were circumsized (Jewish) Christians witnessed the outpouring of holy spirit on many uncircumsized Christians. (Acts 10:44-48) This is just one more indication that God had replaced the Jewish system of things with faithful followers of his son.

The Jewish nation was the nation God promised to sentd the Messiah through. Once that had been accomplished, and because the nation had followed their religious leaders in having God's son tortured & put to death, God divorced Israel ...

Would you --under similar circumstances-- not have done the same?

According to the website below, it was the Puritans:

A Puritan of 16th and 17th century England was any person seeking "purity" of worship and doctrine, especially the parties that rejected the Laudian reform of the Church of England. Those who sought further reform of liturgy and theology away from that of the Roman Catholic Church and those who justified separation from the Church of England following the Elizabethan Religious Settlement are commonly called "Puritans" by historians and critics.

Each of the tribes and their various ideas of God say that the land around Jerusalem was made for them alone.
The Israelites are the last of the tribes to make this claim.
