If I'm running a meeting that's scheduled to begin at 6PM, for example & no one shows up, when is it OK for me to pack up & leave?

This is an informal meeting & I volunteer my time, along with a few other dedicated people.

I would say 20 or 30 minutes , then leave a note on the door that the meeting was cancelled or will be rescheduled.

I'd say 15 minutes, 30 minutes max! Not likely anyone is going to show up after that, an hour is ridiculous unless the meeting is held at the volunteer place and you can do something useful during that time, then you may just set to work and hold the meeting if and when anyone decides to show up.

The problem with the last thing is if you do that you would encourage people coming in at any time they like; volunteers or not, they should have a bit more respect for your (and the other volunteer's) schedule!

I would say anywhere between 30-45 minutes would be a reasonable time to wait to pack up & leave. It's rude of them to not show up to this meeting. They should at least have the courtesy to call you or text you that they can't make it.

I never wait more than 10 mins for anyone to show up for anything.. since yer a volunteer.. I'd wait 5 mins max.. maybe.. prob more like 2 mins actually.. I'm not late there is no excuse they should be I figure... If there is they can give me the excuse later (but it better be a damn good one)

I am sure I would not wait until more than 10 after and I would leave. Why waste an hour sitting around -if there is no meeting Ill go home or for a drink thanks!

I always operate on the idea that 20 minutes should be long enough.

30 minutes. In the age of cell phones, that is plenty of time.
