With all due respect, I (an atheist) have some questions that I hope you will answer.

Do you sincerely believe that Jesus was concieved immaculately (that is, Mary was a virgin), that he changed water into wine, that he raised Lazarus from the dead, that he turned a few loaves and fish into enough to feed thousands, that he could stop that one woman from hemorrhaging, or that he could rise from the dead himself?

It just does not make sense to me... those go against laws of biology and chemistry. I understand that he is supposed to be the son of god, but still... how do you believe in both that and in science?

I am not trying to insult you or challenge your faith, just see your point of view, because I really don't get it, but I do want to see where you're coming from.

I agree that these things go against what we KNOW about biology, chemistry, physics, etc...however I think any scientist regardless of their religious (or irreligious) persuasion would agree that there are many many things about science that we don't understand yet. I believe these things happened because I have seen enough things happen in my lifetime that I have no logical or scientific explanation for, but witnessed or experienced myself, that I have to acknowledge that just because we don't know how these things happen doesn't mean they don't.

Jesus does not break the laws of physics, He encompasses them.

Picture this, a software company makes a virtual reality world, a massively multiplayer online game. They program rules and physics to the game, then release it to the public. A short time into the game, some of the players notice a character walking across the water, making items out of thin air, and and making monsters in the game disappear. When the other players ask the player doing this, he says "I'm a programmer and moderator who works for the software company. I programmed this game, and I'm just doing some routine debugging."

One might say that the programmer was violating the rules of the game. In reality, he was overriding and setting them. He was not breaking the rules, he was superceding them. The other players could not because they did not have complete knowledge of the program of the game or the tools necessary to change it.

God made the universe. He wrote the laws of physics. We cannot go beyond certain limits because of laws like the law of conservation of matter and energy. God is infinite, the whole universe finds its source in Him, so He is not limited by the law of conservation of matter and energy. Since He is infinitely aware on both a micro and macro level, He can manipulate the tiniest subatomic particles or the largest supermassive black holes. It is not that God is outside of the laws of physics, but that He has the means to manipulate them in ways that we cannot, since we are finite and limited in our ability to manipulate our surroundings.

God is not limited, except by His own nature which is a nature of order, equity, and love.

"... how do you believe in both that and science?" To me, it's the only logical conclusion. As a student, I always got A's in math and science. Went to Purdue University (started out with Engineering scholarships - switched to Criminology after 2 years) so I do have some understanding of science, and I think that scientific claims ought to stand up to scientific examination.

The Christian faith has at it's center, that God is omnipotent. He can say it, and "poof" it happens. That doesn't go against the laws of science as much as it "stands outside" of the laws that He made, and can place on "pause" whenever He wants.

The alternative requires more imagination, and more faith to accept (as a scientist): Being this - There is no God. The universe as we know it wasn't always here - all this matter came about..... well, it just came about. Life as we know it wasn't always like this - live stuff came about out of non-live stuff..... a bit hard to swallow from a scientific perspective. Observable science says that things give birth to more of the same kinds of things..... unless you throw in bazillions of years, then stuff goes ahead and violates the third law of thermodynamics (I think that's the one), that says that systems go from specific to general, not general to specific.

The real question is "... how can someone believe in evolution and science?"

Of course if you don't believe in God, then you won't believe in his powers. You can't understand because you choose not to. When you have faith in God, you have it to the bone. I believe Jesus did all that because he IS God. God made the universe, raising someone from the dead is a piece of cake for him. Miracles are real. They cannot be explained because there is no science behind it. If you only believe in science and nothing else, then you must be very close minded. The bible says one day every knee shall bow and tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. My advise for you is do it now before its to late.

Yes he did all because Jesus was God in the flesh. Does that go against the laws of science? Sure it does. But He,God, created the science. That's why I have no problem with both science and a belief in God.

I see Serena already beat me to the punch! God created the science!

Yes to all but your last question. Jesus did not raise himself from the dead, his father Jehovah did the actual Resurrection of Jesus.
Jesus is Gods Son, he is alive, in heaven and looking for those who will listen to his voice and serve his father Jehovah.

I believe our understanding of science is faulty. That is why we have so many theories, and so few scientific laws. The first computers were as big as a warehouse. But now they fit into tiny cellphones that are easily lost. Science changes as we learn more.

I believe God's understanding of all sciences is perfect. And with that perfect knowledge, he is able to manipulate things in ways that seem impossible or miraculous to us.

I'm sort of an outsider here, but I'll try and help. Jesus was immortal because he tapped into his superconsciousness. This spirit allowed him to do all those things.

My advice, meditate on the absolute being, and you'll quickly discover God.

Any one who made a law can resend that law, agreed?

By faith are ye saved, If you do not see yourself as a sinner, you cannot see your need for a savior. agreed?

When you admit you are a sinner you will be one step closer to being saved.
