I've heard about hoodia and does it work? I want to use it on top of exercise, but i want my appetite to just go down a bit, so is hoodia a good thing to invest in? and if so are there any suggestible brands. Thanks.

I've been researching hoodia and hoodia diet pills for the past year so I'll share with you what I've learned.

The raw form of hoodia has been proven to be effective. In fact, the hoodia gordonii plant has been used for centuries by the San tribe of South Africa. They would eat it to stave off hunger during long hunting trips. Just a small piece of the plant would suppress their appetite for hours - without any side effects.

Hoodia diet pills, however, are a different animal. They've only been available on a mass scale since 2004 so they don't have a long track record. Furthermore, there have been very few studies done on the effectiveness of hoodia diet pills. Most of the evidence we know about the effectiveness of them is anecdotal and that evidence is mixed. Some dieters swear by it while others say they are worthless.

The hoodia gordonii plant is an endangered plant and is only found in the Kalahari Desert of South Africa. The supply of it is scarce relative to the very high demand for it. Thus, the prices of hoodia gordonii have gone up every year. In 2004, a kilo cost around $18. Today it's over $300! It's very expensive.

You will not find hoodia gordonii in its raw form. You can only find in it powder form or in liquid form (also known as hoodia tincture or liquid hoodia). The problem is, most of the hoodia diet pills today contain very little hoodia gordonii. A study was done last year by a consumer advocacy group and they discovered that over 60% of the most popular hoodia brands contained NO hoodia gordonii!

I've provided a link below to a buyer's checklist that highlights the 12 things to look for when buying hoodia diet pills to ensure you get REAL hoodia gordonii. As for specific brands, I recommend Desert Burn. I've provided a link below to a full review of it. In that review you'll also read about a doctor who has over 400 weight loss patients who have had great success with Desert Burn. This is one of the few brands that contains 100% authentic hoodia gordonii - and they have the independent lab tests to prove it.

Does hoodia work? Well, it might. The reality is, we're all wired differently. What works for one person may not do a thing for you. Some people just don't respond to it. The key is to make sure you are getting authentic hoodia gordonii and that you are taking enough of it. Experts and doctors say it can take as much as 3,000mg of hoodia gordonii per day. Because it is expensive, most people probably don't take that much and may be a reason why they say it didn't work for them.

One final note, hoodia diet pills can take as long as two weeks before they start to work. If they don't work for you immediately, give them some time. If after a couple weeks they're not suppressing your appetite, then they're probably not going to work for you.

Best of luck to you.

Making Hoodia Gordonii Part Of Your Weight Loss Program

While Hoodia Gordonii shows a lot of promise as a powerful appetite suppressant, it is important to note that there is no magical solution when it comes to weight loss. An intelligent weight loss program should be combined with sensible changes in your lifestyle that include moderate exercise such as strength training which builds strength and endurance.

Additionally, attention should be paid to your diet and care should be taken to avoid foods that are high in sugars such as potatoes, baked goods, candy and other types of sugar containing foods.

Healthy, wholesome foods should make up your diet which includes unsaturated fats from olive oil and canola oil, for example, and omega-3 rich oils found in fish and other seafood.

Moreover, healthy weight loss should never go over two pounds per week. If you are on a weight loss program that goes beyond that, it is likely to include loss of muscle and bone density. While it may be easier to lose muscle mass and bone density, it is a lot harder to gain it back. A loss of bone density can lead to fractures, injuries and more serious illnesses such as osteoporosis. It is for this reason, therefore, that most dieticians suggest that weight loss should not go over more than two pounds of body fat per week in order to avoid the loss of muscle mass.

Additionally, full hydration during any weight loss program is essential especially while taking a supplement like Hoodia Gordonii because, in addition to suppressing the appetite, it will also eliminate your thirst as well.

i tried hoodia - picked up a bottle at vitamin world. for me, it didn't cut the appetite significantly. perhaps i should up the dose? i only took 1-2 capsules at 4pm to curb the dinner appetite (was voraciously hungry by the end of the day) but i still would be a bit hungry even though. the good side, no jitters or any side effects like other appetite suppressants

I tried it last year, it was mostly ineffective. It did help me lose a tiny bit of weight but not enough for what I paid out. I now use something called total control and snack defense and they do work. I have now lost 18 pounds in three months and my food cravings were under control in the first two days. try myhealthabc.com and you can get free samples if you pay the postage, i think ts about ten dollars? You get other samples too and a complete health evaluation. Anyway the stuff works and its easy to take. Good luck

Eat only when hungry and eat/drink only three times a day. Only exception is for diabetics. Water can of course be taken. Chew each morsel 32 times so that ur brain gets signal that u have had enough. Take regular exercises and brisk walks. U will loose/gain gracefully and attain the required weight in reasonable time period.

When boredom, depression, or maybe stress causes cravings, find a nonfood way in order to meet them such as going for a walk, calling a friend, having a bath, reading a book, or doing some yoga.
