My sister n law is 14. She has been having seizures for about 6 weeks now. They are gradually getting worse.. (4 in a row for over 20 minutes) Her parents brought her to the doctor. The CT Scan showed a cyst in her temple. But it is questionable tumor/cyst right now. Her parents are NOT being aggressive at all. They are bringing her to a small (20bed hospital) instead of taking her somewhere with more technology. How can I make them realize the danger she is in without scaring them to death although that is what they need. Please give me some advice...

It sounds like she needs to see a neurologist not a doctor who is a specialist for brain related injuries. You mentioned she has only had a C.T. scan she needs a M.R.I. scan to see how much damage has occurred or if this cyst is growing and can be surgically removed to improve her quality of life. If it is a matter of money to have her taken to see a neurologist or a M.R.I scan there must be a organization who could assist in these costs. If she was in Australia she would have been treated immediately even given drugs or treatment or operation to reduce or remove this cyst from her brain. I'm sorry that her parents don't love her enough to do anything or everything to help there little girl to become well. She is very lucky to have someone like you who has a deep concern for her. Your really all that she has at the moment so do some calling around to find a neurologist who will come to see and treat her. Two thumbs up to you.

Cyst in the temple? And they aren't worried about it? I do believe you need to be serious and tell them the truth of the matter.

A cyst is arguably more dangerous then a tumor, a cyst is a bubble of fluid in the brain, if the cyst ruptures in your sister in law's brain, she could well die, if not from the rupture itself, then from the toxicity of the fluids within the cyst.

If it is a cyst, she needs surgery immediately, resting in a ward isn't going to help. Especially since she goes into fits, if it causes the cyst to inadvertantly burst, you may well lose her life, or worse, she may become a vegatable.

Do not worry about scaring them they should be scared i feel for them because it must be terrible to be in that position but they need to get that child to a good hospital fast this isnt a small matter maybe take your mother inlaw online and look up the sickness or as someone else said make up a story but dont let fear hold you back you could have this childs life in your hands good luck hope everything works out

Find or make-up a story about a child in your sister in laws position and tell them about. Make them think they child had better help at a better hospital. Or point out that a cyst/tumor could seriously hurt your sister in law
