I need a cheap, but good photographer for my wedding in blue springs, mo. I dont have any connections. The cheapest I can find is $850 but that is only for four hours and a cd with the pics and the rights to them (no actual printed pictures). Also, I need to know what to watch out for so I dont get suckered into a contract with someone who doesnt have experience.

Honestly it sounds like you have a great deal already! Seriously photography is expensive these days. But if they give you the rights, that is MAJOR when you're ordering your wedding pics. I really think that may be your best bet. I am paying $1400 for pictures and that includes engagement pictures, typical wedding pics, and the reception pics. I hope this helps, but from what i see .. pictures are soooo expensive!!!! Good luck though... and oh my wedding is taking place in west Tennessee which isn't too far from you I don't think.

Check with some local camera stores, look in the local newspaper and find yourself somebody who is just breaking into the professional photographer business. Don't worry about getting stuck with a contract. First, sit down with someone who has had a lavish wedding and look through his/her wedding book. Look at the pics and decide which ones you want for your wedding. Make a list, describing each one. Then take the list and meet with the beginning photo person and have them go over the list and give you a rough quote. Tell them that if they get at least these pics you will pay (here you put out the price you are willing to pay, such as $100, $150, $200 or whatever it is). Offer a bonus of another $50 if he/she does an excellent job and perhaps takes a few more shots. What you get might not be the same as your friend's book but should be pretty good. And you should save money. Good luck.

Hi Blue Springs.....Independence here. Unfortunately wedding photographers are very expensive around here. Do you want the nice wedding photographs or would you be equally happy if you had a few friends photograph your wedding with some digitial cameras?

To be completely honest with you, you could have someone take the photos and have them blown up to 5x7's or 8x10's. You can go to sites like theknot.com to find a list of all the different poses. That is what I did for my wedding and I love my pictures. As well I had my uncle video tape it so I have that as a memory as well and spent less than $150 on film, processing (they didn't have digital back then) and a VHS tape.

Good luck on your upcoming wedding and marriage!

go to your local college arts department. there will be a starving student studying photography who is willing to help you, and wont need a contract.
