It is very bad for someone that young to be dieting because at that age you are still growing and need nutrition. However, I wouldn't tell her parents because that would make her really upset and she probably wouldn't trust you anymore. Only tell her parents if she starts starving herself.

I started dieting when I was 14 and I developed an eating disorder; luckily I was able to help myself without telling anyone. You should talk to her and tell her that she is beautiful the way she is and that she doesn't need to lose weight.

Dieting while you are still growing is can stunt your growth and cause serious problems. Her parents need to know. She has a body dysmorphic condition. This is when people look in the mirror but aren't seeing what's actually in front of them but what's in their own mind. When you weigh less than 75 pounds it can be fatal so she doesn't have far to go to get to a very bad place. Please tell her family! It's important!

Yes it is dangerous. She possibly might be heading towards being anorexia. Her not eating could cause problems with her organs...example..kidneys, and liver. I know you don't want to be a snitch. Have you thought of talking to your parents and having them make the call to her family? Maybe your Mom could say she overheard your friend mention she was on a diet. Or another possibly is to mention it to a staff member at your school and ask that your name be kept confidental. Good luck to you and your friend. You did the right thing, now keep doing it. :)

Tell her that she can eat healthy foods. If you want to comfort her through this struggle offer to eat healthy with her. Buy a local health book to understand what a healthy eating habit would be and go from their. She can still eat the foods she wants to eat. Also you can do a little workout routine if she is up to it. Let her know that you need to eat right and exercise a little to look healthy. You could do a some push ups, crunches, or even running around/playing at a playground. ALSO... TELL HER PARENTS!!!!!! They NEED to know! Good luck with this one babe and stay strong.

severely restricting the calories during growth years can permanently alter the endocrine system and cause serious health issues for life. I have witnessed this first hand from girls that I went to high school with and dated. some of them are still suffering from their eating disorders which started over 20 years ago.

That's pretty skeenie. You should give us your height too, but I don't imagine it to be much at your current age. Your friend is basically being a 'tard. If I were you I'd let her be and observe her. She probably lacks the willpower to stick through it. If not tell her parents. And wait till she hit's puberty, then she'll completely flip.

at 11 years old she doesn't need to worry about her weight and 80 is fine. you need to tell her to stop that its okay to be active but dieting isn't necessary unless she wants to end up in the hospital on life support because she's so sick and underweight.

Scare some sense back into her and if she wont listen than talk to your parents and have them talk to her parents.

Her parents will thank you for informing them and sure your friend might be mad at you but when you're possibly saving her life she'll get over it.

Stop her at any costs. She's going to hurt herself if she keeps this up. Tell her parents immediately, and get her to stop the madness. 80lbs is not fat at all, and 11 is WAY too early to diet. I can't believe what this world is coming to. Stop this before it's too late.

She's too young to diet and especially if her parents are not yet known of her activities. Only if she's in a state of obesity can she diet.
