Alcohol is naturally produced in the body.

Liquor takes grain that might otherwise rot, and saves it in a form that can last a few hundred years. Wine or "jack" (like applejack) does the same for fruit. Prohibition was terrible for farmers because liquor was a high-profit item that used grain. During prohibition, many farmers had difficulty making a profit from their crop...it is belived that prohibition may have contributed to the great depression.

In a pinch, a person can survive on alcohol and water, because alcohol has calories your body can use.

Liquor kills germs, both in the mouth and on the skin.

Moderate (not getting drunk) drinking has many benefits to health, like lowered chance of heart conditions, and decreased stress.

Wine was once carried by armies specifically because it would not carry diseases, like water might.

Look at all the advantages of Red Wine. I have a cocktail or 2 every evening to relax. In the Spring & Summer, sitting outside in a swing watching the sun set is better than any nerve pill. The economy, by all means. The taxes off of smokes & alcohol support a lot of much needed municipal projects.

Alcohol like everything else is good in moderation. In France people drink one or two glasses of wine every day. Studies have suggested this has lowered their rate of heart disease. I must stress though....It is only good in moderation. Too much of anything can kill you.The economic benefits are not too great. There are huge social costs related to the excessive use of alcohol. These can include drunk driving accidents, health problems, and rehabilitation facilities. You could add up the amount of money spent in bars, stores ,etc. I don't think it would equal the amount spent treating the problems created by the over use of alcohol. If we only drank moderately. If we did not do things like binge drink or drive drunk. We would see more economic benefits from alcohol consumption.

There are good and bad things about alcohol. Just control it and don't let it control you.

Socially:

An intelligent man is sometimes forced to be drunk to spend time with the fools in his life. -Ernest Hemingway.

Spiritually:

When we drink, we get drunk. When we get drunk, we fall asleep. When we fall asleep, we commit no sin. When we commit no sin, we go to heaven. So, let's all get drunk and go to heaven! -George Bernard Shaw

Economically:

Sometimes when I reflect on all the beer I drink, I feel ashamed.
Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and
all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be
out of work, and their dreams would be shattered. I think, "It is better
to drink this beer and let their dreams come true, than be selfish and
worry about my liver......."

Babe Ruth

Educationally:

When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading. -Paul Hornung

Mathematically:

24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not. -H.L.Mencken

I don't really think there are too many advantages to drinking. Speaking from being an alcoholic myself, it SUCKS. If I could go back and be smarter about my decisions on drinking, I would. I now feel trapped and lonely. My only out seems to be alcohol at this point and it SHOULD NOT have to be that way. If at all possible, stay away from alcohol and better your life. :) God Bless!

It shows people who you really are. You don't care what people think most of the time. If you want to get something out of somebody take them to the bar and get them drunk you will most likely find out. For the body you will gain wait. maybe puke which is bad for your stomach and your teeth. economy = drunk drivers. take your pick. I personally like to go out once or twice a month put I do it with a DD.
