"Love" is a strong word. Love is not lust, love is not infatuation, love is not a crush on someone, love is when you deeply care for someone and what you see on the outside does not matter.. it's all in the heart. Younger people tend to not know the true meaning of love.. they go by what they think love is. For the girls, they think it is seeing a hot guy pass by and that is love. For the guys, they think it is seeing a sexually appealing female that is showing off parts of the body that should not be seen by everyone and that is love. That is NOT love. That is lust. Love and lust are very easily confused these days. It is even confused in music very often.. like T Pain's song "I'm In Love With A Stripper".. good song, but sorry guys that's not talking about real love.. that is lust. I think the younger people who don't understand actually think about songs like this and think that being attracted to a stripper is love because that is what they're being told it is. Another thing.. love for a person is not determined by what they have or how wealthy they are. Love is from the HEART!!! =)

Love is that feeling of butterflies in your stomach, nervousness and giggling over drinks - on your 10 year wedding anniversary. Rolling over to watch your spouse sleeping, and thinking how cute the drool is running down their cheek. The way you two can sit together without talking to each other - and feel totally at ease. The way you can anticipate each other's needs - like him starting her car in the morning for her when it is cold, or her rubbing his back while laying in bed until he falls asleep. Love is liking your spouse above and all as a person. It is knowing that they will not take it personally when you have a really bad day and yell for no reason. Love is a lot of little things all rolled up into one.

Aristotle defines love as "the eternal possession of the good". Not a bad definition, but how do we attain unto it?

The English language only has one word for love. "I love Lucy" "I love ice cream" "I love my puppy" etc... So your question is a good one.
Interesting that Koine Greek (the original language of the New Testament Bible) has 3 words for love: eros = physical love; philos = psychological love; and agape = God's love, which is perfect love, or unconditional love. The highest form of love then is agape. But we're incapable of agape unless we recieve it first from God. When we do we become channels of His love; agape is expressed through philos or eros and the result is an even higher form of love than agape. Its not just perfect love, its perfected love (perfect love expressed by grace through faith via the fallen human condition).

Is it any wonder that we have such a difficult time with... "love" ??
The best we can come up with is philos love until we first put our faith in God and just let Him love us. Sometimes this is so hard for us because we think ourselves to be unworthy... and we are, but God is gracious. If we will let Him he will love us. Then we will be able to love Him. Then we will be able to love ourselves. Then we will be able to love others... even our enemies. I hope you understand. Just let God love you. The rest will happen.

Hey ! / God Bless !

I think that each person has their own definition based on their personality and desires. If you're speaking of love in marriage, the most simple answer I can attempt is ...when you care about and desire a person so much that they become a part of you, and that pleasing that person actually brings you pleasure.

when a part of you is living and walking around outside of your body.
When you would rather die than allow that person to feel one ounce of pain or hurt!
When seeing that person walk into a room makes you light up and brings an immediate smile to your face!
When you can't wait to get home and see them and talk to them and just be near them!

And even though I hate to sound like a movie quote, but "the person who completes every part of you!"

Love is when 2-hearts become one, knowing that you'll never be alone again, the tender kiss you feel when your sleeping, the arms around you when your sad, and the memories you share as you grow old.

Okay....
Love is when you are talking to him/her, and you get toungue tied or lose your breathe easily.
When you walk by them, your heart skips a beat
When you look at them, your entire insides melt!!!
Well, thats how I define it... other people can have their opinions, but this is my vision of true love!!!!
