OK, I've been waiting for this question so I could see how others felt. I was not taught religion by my parent's, in fact I come from a home of drugs and alcohol, foster care and so much other crap. I was taught different religions while in foster care. I was also taught about a higher power while in a rehab. I must say, it was all very interesting but I have my opinion just like every other person.
I don't attend church and don't do the rosarie nor do I read any bibles. I was married in a non-denominational church. I do however believe that there is a god but one of my own. Each religion has it's rules on what you should and should not believe. They try to tell you how you should think, feel and believe. I have argued this with many of my neighbors who try to get me to go to Catholic/Baptist/Christian churches. I will explain one indifference I have and why we were married in a non-denominational church.
Baptist will absolutely not wed anyone who lives together or has a child involved which I believe is absolutely a wrong decision. They should just unite them as a complete family. It's my understanding through Christian you should not have children until after you are wed and Catholic will wed you but you must take these classes and remain wed under all circumstances, including adultry.
I feel that our world has become so religious that it has actually caused more harm than good. People take classes and don't live together before wed and what happens? Either they commit adultry, don't honor the values until the end even with adultry or don't live together and wed first and what is the outcome? Well, we have more divorced families now than ever before. I lived with my husband for 5 years before we wed and have been together now for 13 years. I think with the rate of divorced families this should be a sign that maybe this isn't the best way to take a vow. I have friends that have been together since high school and in late 30's who are still in love like teenagers. I have family who are in their 50's who are the same way since high school and they all lived together before they wed.
My point is, if we are to believe in god, and he is forgiving, why can't he forgive our sins of living together or making a baby out of wedlock? I believe there is a god but one of my own. One who follows me to make decisions that are best suited for my life and my meaning, not for the financial benefit of a church. My god has protected me several times. He kept me from drugs and alcohol, kept me taking care of my child rather than dumping her at a foster home and there are several times I think back and I should have been dead from the things I've done. There is a god and he is what you believe not what's in a book, taught by others beliefs and demands.

Yes, I believe in God, in what I was told about Him, in what I read about Him and especially the visions I've seen of
God the Father
God the Son and
God the Holy Spirit.
It was breathtaking, thrilling and awesome!

I was raised Catholic, so I thought I believed but I really did not, except to say I was a Catholic, but this was the same as saying I am an American to me, it was not by choice I was Catholic, except that I was born Catholic. But I had accepted the Lord at altar calls about 5 times as a teen-ager because I heard preachers say you must do this to be saved, still nothing changed for me. But at age 22 years old I read the Bible finally and was called by God to follow the word and my life did change very dramatically, and I did start following the ways of the word

I do not believe in god because I am an atheist, a decision/system of beliefs at which I arrived due to a long course of study/reading/thinking. I grew up in the RCC and went to Catholic schools for a very long time, so I know the bible very well... in fact, it was that that made me question the idea of god. It escapes me how god could exist... it is illogical. And the concept of faith just doesn't work. I hope that that answered your question.

I believed in the existence of God before I ever really knew what was in the Bible. Someone created me. Someone decided that if I cut and bled that my body would heal and form a scab without my intervention. Someone placed a heart that pumps blood throughout my body involuntarily, someone created my brain with all its electrical currents and thought processes. Someone made this planet that I live on and someone caused the plants and trees and every living thing to be alive and equipped this planet so we could all survive (food air & water). I don't know about you but all this did not happen from a big bang in the cosmos. Besides who created the elements in the cosmos to cause the big bang? Let God be true and everyman a liar.

Please read my words carefully:
If you see footmark in the sand, you'll say that someone passed from here...
If you see a piece of dog sh*t on the ground, you'll say that a dog passed from here...
So what about the enormous universe, the sky, stars, planets, earth and all the beauty in it, doesn't it lead to that someone made it?!!!
Some people say that everything is created by itself after the big-bang... I won't ask you about what caused the big-bang, but I'll ask you a simple question:
If you take all the letters of the alphabet, multiples of them, and you threw them randomly on the floor. Do you expect (by a chance of one in infinity) to get a poem like shakespear's??!!
Can't you see how organized our universe is, the planets, the eco-system on earth, look even in your own body... Can you control your heart-beat? Can you control your breath while you're sleeping? Who stopped your eye-lashes from growing after reaching a certain length? Who told the baby turtles to move towards the sea and not to the earth after they come out of their eggs? Who taught the bird how to make nests?
My friend, think with your heart and brain. If you're still lost, think about the following:
Do you know how to play safe?
Non-believer's case:
If there's no God and you do all what you want in life, then nothing will happen to you after life. But if there was God and you were mistaken, then you'll blame yourself FOREVER...
Believer's case:
If there's God and I followed His commands in life, then I'll be in Heaven after life FOREVER. But if there was no God and we're mistaken, then nothing bad will happen to us after life...
Now you know how to play-safe, in case you're not convinced?

I do a great deal of reading, and much of it about "God." The more I read, the more I am led to the conclusion that "God" is an effort by the human mind, confronting the infinite unknown, to make the infinite unknown small and comfortably knowable.
We seek to limit the infinite by giving it a name and a collection of attributes that we can understand, and persuade ourselves that we can control by means of prayer and sacrifice.
While I do believe that there is some spiritual component to life, I believe that it cannot be known or comprehended by our minds.

I believe in God, the Almighty, because of the changes He has made in me once I decided to follow Him... and accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Since then, I have read many things that enforce my faith in God... and nothing that makes me doubt Him
