I heard it was the use of butter. Eating healthy fat can actually keep fat off! Is this true? And do you get sick thinking about eating fast food? I haven't eaten fast food in almost 5 months now and I will never go back!

Yes, eating healthy fats CAN help keep fat off and regulate your metabolism. However, butter is not a healthy fat. Healthy fats are those with mono-unsaturated and polyunsaturated fat grams. Try to stay away from saturated and trans fat.
Another important aspect is, yes, staying away from fast food and foods that have been highly processed (such as Twinkies, animal crackers, whatever). Try to eat foods as close to nature as you can get-- go for fruits, vegetables, whole grains, etc. It also helps to eat foods of a variety of different colors to keep it interesting and ensure that you're getting a healthy balance of vitamins and minerals.
Portion size/control is another secret of the thin French people. By eating smaller portions, you are, obviously, taking in less calories. A good way to practice portion control is by using smaller plates during meals so that your plate still looks full but you are actually eating less. Another good technique for dining out is taking half of the meal to go (or simply leaving it on your plate if you so desire).
Another secret is the key to indulgence. Eating chocolate or other decadent treats is fine every once and a while, but make it a SMALL amount. Try a mini or Fun Size candy bar instead of the King Size. Go out with friends for dinner, and then share a tasty dessert. Keeping your indulgences small but frequent will keep you satisfied and prevent binging on tasty foods later on.
The last healthy key to being thin like the French is activity. Try to be active for 30-60 minutes a day, starting out small if that seems like too much. Doing little things, like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, parking farther away so you have farther to walk, and getting up to change the TV channel instead of using the remote all contribute to your daily activity and burn calories.

Hope this helped, and good luck!!

The food is fresh , live food. No preservatives and although they do use butter it is in small portions 3 or 4 small meals a day. The body doesn't feel deprived and the metabolism works much better. Dieting is not about starving! It is about eating healthy, more often, but less at each meal. You will have more energy, feel better and it will not be stored as fat. Good luck!

Eat only when hungry and eat/drink only three times a day. Only exception is for diabetics. Water can of course be taken. Chew each morsel 32 times so that ur brain gets signal that u have had enough. Take regular exercises and brisk walks. U will loose/gain gracefully and attain the required weight in reasonable time period. Fad foods r not good at all.

the french eat very small not so healthy meals, but its a good way to stay slim because the calories at the end of the day are under 2000. they dont have supersize or double burgers, everything is small like those lean cuisines frozen meals that never fill us Americans up.

As some others have said, it's not the food, it's the fact that they're more active.

Spend a week in Europe eating the same foods you normally do and you will lose a couple of pounds (so long as you don't hop in the taxi everywhere you go).

The reason the french are so slim, is because the portions they eat are so small. Well actually their portions are normal, american portions are huge. I do get sick when i think of fast food, well sometimes it sounds good it just depends.

They often have small portions and they also eat slowly for a long time. When you eat your meal slowly you'll feel fuller with less food. I know in America we are so busy that we gulp down our food and are finished before it really has a chance to get into our stomach.

The absence of processed foods, the lack of burgers, the lack of pizza, and the fact that they don't drink as much sodas. Japanese food is even healthier.

it's because the portions are very small. surprisingly many of the foods are fatty...just eat very little. It's about the amount of calories
