I have respect for Christians- I have several who are friends of mine. But the viewpoint that non Christians will go to hell, even if they are good, decent people is not only ignorant but extremely offensive and dangerous. It's what led to the Inquisition and other acts of intolerance against nonChristians. Isn't Christianity supposed to be a peaceful, forgiving religion? I really don't get this belief

I don't believe Non-Christians are going to hell...since the bible never states that anyone is going to "hell". The bible does say that each person will "carry his own load" and "is held accountable for his/her actions".

Wow, looks like not many Christians actually read their bible or they are trying to evade the question. Yes, they really believe non-Christians are going to hell because this is what the bible teaches them. Here is scripture back-up and info from a Christian site;

Getting into heaven is not based on whether our good outweighs our bad; we will all lose out if that is the case. "And if they are saved by God's kindness, then it is not by their good works. For in that case, God's wonderful kindness would not be what it really is - free and undeserved" (Romans 11:6). We can do nothing good to earn our way to heaven (Titus 3:5)."And this is the way to have eternal life - to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth" (John 17:3).

The presumption that needs to be questioned is that people are inherantly good. The Bible teaches that all have sinned. God's standard is perfection. Christianity IS a forgiving religion because God is forgiving and merciful. I know that I am a sinner. I have done good things in my life, but I have sinned far more. God does not grade on the curve. I fall short of His standard. I believe that all mankind is below that standard as well. God invites us to come and ask forgiveness and be granted mercy. Yet, you can't do that until you admit that you are a sinner.

Good is a point of view rosy, why do people do good is it that they really care about others? or are they doing good so they can be noticed by other people or are they trying to be friendly so they can feel safe and secure and pretend that their fears in life and the fears of this world dont exist? I used to hang out with people and even christians and when i first meet people they are happy and smiling and then 1 week later they are arguing with me or ignoring me or never call me....perhaps they were just wearing a mask and pretending that they like me. they will say this: "well that just the way i am i cant help it".....the problem with this is that they can change - all they have to do is change their mind thru practice but they dont want to, i think they are more concerned about trying to make money so they can buy that big house and big car instead. Hell is a place that is easily avoidable all people have to do is have a willingness to change thats all, ill give you a quick example people decide to have a Blue Monday because the weekend is over. Why? why can i not be happy at work? is my blue monday just helping me feel sorry for myself so i can get attention from people? happiness is inside of our minds? why is it that we as people are sad at work and happy on the weekends? i think society and culture slowly teach us this thru TV and media and we slowly accept this but if we decide to change this then i believe that is what makes God happy with us....again i believe that hell is very easy to avoid and that is just common sense to me if you have a child would you like to send your child to hell....no way.

Death is inevitable. The thief on the cross knew when his would occur, but we can not predict our own. After his death, the crucified criminal went to live in paradise with Jesus. Some of us will also live eternally in God's presence. But others will experience everlasting torment, forever separated from Him.
If we receive Jesus as our Savior, our penalty for sin is paid. We are adopted into God's family, and Heaven is our eternal home. If we reject Jesus, we remain alienated from the Lord and under condemnation for our sin. We are destined to experience eternal judgment. God won't accept any of man's excuses because there is no acceptable defense for unbelief. (Acts 4:12)

i don't think in "Biblical inerrancy" and yet many non-Christians label me as a "fundie" and "evangelical. I take a marginally academic/scholarly physique of suggestions to the Bible. whether, whether I have been to take a thoroughly literal view of the completed Bible (alongside with the e book of Revelation) I nonetheless could not justify the theory in an eternal torture chamber. The wages of sin is death. The lake of hearth is the "2d death" the place death and Hades are destroyed invariably. that's why an "eternal hell" would not make experience. The soul has by no skill been certain eternal existence. that's why Jesus got here...to grant us eternal existence (John 3:sixteen). Even eternal torment in hell continues to be eternal existence.

how kind of you to allow a few of us to be your friends.
Christians did not make the rules, we just try to follow them.
in all the ways you think you are "being good" and "decent" those ways are like filthy rags before a perfect GOD. You cannot be good enough or decent enough on your own. if you could then you would make the death and Resurrection of Christ of no value and NOBODY CAN BE THAT GOOD!!!!!

Christians believe it but didn't devise it ya know. God is Spirit and those who haven't received His Spirit will die in the flesh. What should we say 'yea it's OK to sin and in our hearts believe something else?' Also God is the judge someone can change on their last breath.

I have never told someone they are going to Hell for not being a believer. Who am I to judge?

The only reason why people are Christians is because they are afraid of the concept of a Hell.

We know that no such thing exists. Neither is physical evidence of the mythic portions of religion
