I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the lack of immuno response to the wound caused by the puck hitting the right wing in the arm caused a chaotic self-induced panic attack, resulting in flailing that injured the opposing team's center, who when injured suffered the same affliction, and the chain reaction was impossible to stop except by calling time out.
