If you're going to teach them the dance in installments, I would come up with more counts than you think you need just in case the kids pick it up quickly. There's nothing worse than being caught off guard and having to think and choreograph on your feet! If you'e teaching the whole dance at once, I'd say at least 8 counts of 8. But it really depends how fast the counts are and what song you choose. If you've never taught a routine before and youre nervous about moves, then maybe try simple footsteps with more complicated arm movements. Also don't be afraid to repeat certain moves, they can act as the chorus to the dance. Or choreograph a short routine and then have them repeat it. Another idea is coming up with a little of the dance and then have each person add 1- 2 counts to the dance so that it's a team effort. But have something ready just in case. Just have fun with it! And the best of luck!

I dont know where you live but going to a dance studio may be a waste of time unless you live a small town. I'd call ahead before going. When we were little girls we made routines by knowing what popular dance moves were and making them our own. Also you should study professional dancers or you will come out looking like an exotic dancer

You could ask someone at a local dance studio to help you with your routine.
