I did and it was pretty scary.

So, did I and it scared the crap out of me. I was having a horrible dream and woke up and there was this really tall shadowy figure in my room. It traveled across the room and through the wall. I couldn't even move, literally scared stiff. I called my sister and her friend over at 4 am to come pray with me and bless my house. It left me traumatized for a couple months. I wouldn't walk through the dark. I was terrified. God revealed to me that it was nothing new. he gifted me with being able to see them. I have to say it was a gift I didn't ask for. And the sick part is that they didn't just show up after I got saved, they were there all along and God just opened my eyes to seeing them. It was hard to overcome. I even found myself thinking I was better off before. I caught myself over and over again looking in reflections, whether I passed in front of a mirror or the TV was off, I was always looking for them. God eventually showed me that he is all powerful and that with his power living within me there is no reason to fear. It is very hard to explain. It was the worst experience but not the last. It still happens to me sometimes, but never has it been as awful as the first time. And as I grow in God I am not as fearful. Feel free to message me if you would like to know more. I am sorry you went through that it is really hard. But I promise you, it will make you stronger. The lord is your strength, don't draw away from him because of this, draw closer to him for protection.

For those who find it odd that only Christians experience demonic attacks, go figure, why would demons need to attack those that they already own.

When I first became a believer there were many strange phenomena that followed. I am pretty sure that the demons that thought they had me duped for all eternity were pretty upset when I became a Christian, and I'll never forget some very frightening and inexplicable occurrences from that time.

EDIT: Please don't listen to these unbelievers who think they know anything about the spirit realm. I know before my conversion I didn't know anything about it and I would have come up with some of the same "explanations" they are offering now.

Ms Avatard: That is so not true. Many Catholics and believers in occult paths suffer them as well.

Parrot: Your explanation may account for some experiences people have, but it in no way disproves the reality of demonic oppression. If you believe in God, Jesus and the Bible, then why discount demonic activity? If you don't, I wonder by what authority you try to steer a believer away from his Savior.

Parrot: I emailed you my response.

No can't say for sure about that, But I do know little Johnny put turpentine on a cats bum and it passed Hell's Angels.

Is that referred to a demonic attack ? I think so.

PS. All joking a side, I too had a strange thing happen to me, but not after becoming a born again believer. It was real and it was scary.

What people describe as "demonic attacks" are almost ALWAYS the result of a common sleep disorder instead. It's called sleep paralysis. The reason I sound so sure is because I suffer from this condition every single night, and I know why people give it some sort of supernatural or "demonic" explanation. They can be very terrifying experiences but they're not real. It's all in your head.

When you sleep, your body automatically paralyzes itself so you don't act out your dreams. Some people have a tendency to wake up before the paralysis has gone away. Naturally the inability to move causes people to panic, and the fear causes your mind to create all sorts of scary apparitions and sounds. But again, they're not real. They're hallucinations. I speak from personal experience and as someone who would've agreed with you about five years ago -- but now I don't, because I've done research and know the truth.

Celeb:

Show me an example or experience of a person claiming to be "attacked by demons" that does not include the following:

1) The person laying in bed
2) The person either approaching sleep or just having woken up
3) The person struggling to move or totally incapable of moving

And what do you mean, "why do I try to steer a believer away from his Savior"? So I should just sit here and say nothing when I think this person's explanation is incorrect?

Your mind is a powerful thing. This is why born-again Christians who have near death experiences claim to see Jesus when they "cross over", but everyone else who has an NDE claims to see OTHER people. If you convert to Christianity and subscribe to all this stuff about "the reality of demon possession", and you start living your entire life with the thought that demons could potentially attack you at any moment, what do you think is going to happen? Those thoughts are going to carry over into your dreams. They're going to carry over into things like NDE's and experiences like sleep paralysis.

How come *I* don't see Satan and demons when these experiences happen to me? Because "Satan already has me"? No, because I don't live my life in fear of demons, and my subconscious mind isn't expecting to see demons... so, therefore, I do not see demons.

As for the small amount of other experiences that don't fall into the category of sleep paralysis... come on, man, that could be anything. It could be some sort of other sleep disorder. It could be a hallucination. Heck, it could be a mental illness for all you know. Human beings have used "demons" to describe countless things over the course of history -- things that have later been discovered to have a totally natural explanation. Why should unexplained things in the present be any different?

How do you know it was a demonic attack? Pretend you consumed psychedelic mushrooms. If you thought you could fly, or that your house cat became a lion, would either of these things be true?

If you were a Muslim or a Jew how would you interpret this experience. I suspect it was only a "demonic attack" because of your specific religious beliefs. (like you said, it happened AFTER you became a born again Christian.)

I find it odd that born agains are the only ones that seem to suffer demonic attacks.

Yes, and we have power and authority over him, however we have to be submitted to God in every area to shut the door on him.
