your hair is not poofy because of the shampoo its poofy because of the way you are styling it.i use cheap sauve products the kind that has the aloe vera or just like the "herbal" type. any kind they have lots of different ones. dont use mousse use gel. when you take a shower wash then put in conditioner leave the conditioner in until you are ready to get out. then when you are done rinse your hair and then put some conditioner back in your hair...not alot just enough so you can put your fingers through it without any problems. squeeze out any excess. then wrap your hair in a towel and do makeup or whatever your routine is. then when you are ready put your head upside down. run fingers through hair and then apply gel. i usee a pretty good amount making sure i get the ends and all through out the hair. then i use the spritz hairspray all over and then areasol hairspray.....yess all at once.then while your head is still upside down take a diffuser which is something that is attached to a blowdryer. you can buy those at any store. make sure its kinda big otherwise youll be there all day. put your hair in the difuser and hold it for about a min. then do another section. do it until all has been dried for a min or two. then flip your head up and do it side to side with the diffuser. then spray hair again. i know it sounds like alot but trust me it will help. the diffuser is the biggest part. it took me many years to figure that out. good luck and like i said its not the product its the way you style.

I basically have the same hair (im biracial)
-Japanese hair straightening system (ranges fromk $500-$1200)
-Fantasia Frizz Buster before flat ironing (prefeberaly with a chi turbo or fhi)
-Use Neutrogena's Tripple moisture hair products(works wonders)
-Use Eden Body Works hair care products
-John Fridas Downplay Volume reducer
And if all else fails see a proffessional in a salon.

next time you go to the store, try to find a shampoo and conditioner for your hairtype. my hair is also very thick but i straighten it and it looks okay.... have you tried biosilk? kinda expensive but it smells great and makes ur hair some what silkier. my best advice, though, is to try a new shampoo and ask the person who cuts your hair for some tips on how to make your hair more manageable.

you can try getting your hair layered so it will be thinner. You can also use those salon relaxers, next time you get your haircut ask the person who does your hair, they really know what your talking about, also be happy you have thick hair, its better than having super thin hair!

Don't thin it out too much, or put too many layers in it. You my end up with even poofier hair. Over texturizing curly hair is an all too common mistake.

thinning just means your hair dresser goes through your hair cutting some layers off to make it thinner... dont wash it everyday and do not brush it just run your finger through it..my sister has the same problem
