lower jaw had it removed mon 2-19 and swelling has gone down for most part but i have a hard lump on the side of my cheek that hurts if i move or open my mouth too much. ice helps for a while. how long will this last?

I agree with R.S. I've had the swelling go down in a day, I've had other suckers....whew! 10 days before that stinkin' lump went down. Believe it or not, rinsing with salt water really helped the pain and swelling go down.

Everyone is different. I had the top left done and swelling and pain was gone in a day or two. If it had to be surgically removed then you will need more time since there will be a cut. Unfortunately some people handle it like it aint no thing and others go thru hell. If things get worse in the next two days see a doctor cuz you can get an infection, if not just wait it out, dont put much pressure on that side and everything will be OK.

It takes a long time to fill in and heal, but the good news is it gets better every day. The bottoms on mine were impacted bad. You can break the jaw bone if it doesn't come out right. It will take several weeks, but you're not using a straw anymore.

I'm not a dentist ;) but It could be dry socket. I believe that that occurs (I'm tryin' to think :) when air gets into the socket(?) and it's supposed to be quite painful. I'd had it when I had mine removed many years ago. I don't know, of course, but it's best to call the dentist when in doubt, and he or she can take a look to see if you have that. Feel better soon :)
