Simple enough, When it no longer does what you want it to do

Meaning, you need a program that will do things that you want to do that your "old" Office won't.

WHY else would you need\want to upgrade?

Heck, I'm still using Office 2000.

True, they add things, so it depends on your use...do you need the "new" things that are added?

I'm fully functional with 2000. Someone else might not be.

I don't think it's really necessary if you have at least Office 2003.
