is it safe?
yes,
if you do it with correct form as to not injure yourself
stopping when you become fatigued
drink fluids to replenish body
300 a day is actually harder than most people can do
it will build up endurance, strength,
muscles in arms, chest, back
make it a lifelong commitment
make sure you do other exercises so not to make body form uneven

Eat only when hungry and eat/drink only three times a day. Only exception is for diabetics. Water can of course be taken. Chew each morsel 32 times so that ur brain gets signal that u have had enough. Take regular exercises and brisk walks. U will loose/gain gracefully and attain the required weight in reasonable time period. One shud not appear crazy.

Yup. I am an aspiring Marine and perform over 200 pushups a day. On even days, I spread them through as many sets as I want, on odd days, in as little sets as possible. My goal is 75 consecutive pushups in a minute.

yep...

for a person that is new to resistance training after the first couple of months of doing push-ups there is no longer any damage induced in skeletal muscle as the "load" is not sufficient to cause micro-trauma. after that they will only help to increase muscular endurance
