I know that it is a job for the pros, but I am just trying to figure out a ballpark price for a prospected remodeling job. The home is just over 1000 sq ft. What did you pay and how long did it take? Did the people who removed it also put up your new siding?
Thank you for your time.

My contractor put it right over the asbestos siding. I think it's ok plus it saves you money.
I think the alarm for asbestos is sorta overrated. Breathing in the dust over a long period of time in a confined area can be hazardous ..... but that is so with many elements. Asbestos siding is normally painted over a few times and sealed .

Oh well ..... I say if your contractor can go right over it ... let him do so. Its a great fire barrier and like layers of clothing ..... helps to insulate from the outside elements.

I have this type of siding on my home. You can have it removed but you should check with your state and local codes. Most states require a licesned abatement specialist. The home is usually tented. This option can be very costly. If the siding is in good shape try having it primed and painted. DO NOT power wash it as this could release asbestos. You could have your home resided. It can be done right over top of the asbestos. I am not sure if any other costs are invilved to go over this product. Undisturbed this product is relativly safe.

Its usually best to side over it instead of removing it. You still need a pro with the know how to install over asbestos - its not just your everyday siding pro that can do that. But, its going to be a hell of a lot cheaper than removing it, and if its not in a shape to cause you harm at the moment - removing it is actually putting you in more danger (and if its done wrong, your neighbors as well)

this is very costly! by the pro's.they have to wear space suits, because of the cancer causing agents in the material.i would have them put the new over the old,but thats my opinion.alot of contracters don't even like to deal with it.ball park i would guess about 25 grand.
