Some of my goofy friends told me that lightning will stike a cat becuz it was attracted to their fur is it true or is it a myth? Help PLEASE

It isn't true at all. If cats were all metal, well, then maybe they would be they would attract lightning. Now you can tell your goofy friend to come up with another, lol. Hope this helps.

The key word here is goofy friends, curious gal... ;)

Cats' fur can generate static electricity in cases...kinda like rubbing a balloon across your hair (which I don't do nearly enough, incidentally) but I don't see any bio/logical reason why lightning would strike them, for heaven's sake!

Maybe you should ask a meteorologist.

Email and ask your local weatherman. It'll make them feel important. ;p

Totally a myth - lightning will always seek the highest point (actually the strike starts at the ground, but I digress). You're friends are full of hot air!

I've had cats for years and I've never heard that. If it were true I'd think it would apply to any creature that has fur, not just cats.

never heard that one. Maybe if the cat was in a tree it could happen. Otherwise, I think it is about as likely as being struck as a human.

I know my cats are attracted to storms???? hmmm......

yes cats have electrical static in they're fur..that is why they are scared when lightning comes...please dont shock it.thats terrible.
